Stop in for a cup of coffee

I sold all my good stuff. Just a couple pistols. I figured I really did not need enough fire power to stop the Zombie Apocalypse. BUT that is my thought, others might need to stop Zombies, Charging Rhinos....
I lost ALL of my firearms, in a terrible boating accident, recently

Second Amendment. The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution reads: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the PEOPLE to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
No debate.
Constitution and Law scholars disagree with you. As does the Supreme court.

2ND AMENDMENT IS TWO PARTS:

"First, that the proposed new Constitution gave the federal government almost total legal authority over the army and militia. Second, that the federal government should not have any authority at all to disarm the citizenry. "

"Yet the Amendment was easily accepted because of widespread agreement that the federal government should not have the power to infringe the right of the people to keep and bear arms, any more than it should have the power to abridge the freedom of speech or prohibit the free exercise of religion." (Constitution Center)

The 2nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution

"Thomas Jefferson penned these words in the Virginia Constitution of 1776: "... No free man shall be debarred the use of arms within his own land." (James Madison Institute)

The James Madison Research Library and Information Center

"Thomas Paine, renowned for his treatise, Common Sense, urged religious pacifists to take up arms in his pamphlet Thoughts on Defensive War:

... The balance of power is the scale of peace. The same balance would be preserved were all the world not destitute of arms, for all would be alike; but since some will not, others dare not lay them aside ... Horrid mischief would ensue were one half the world deprived of the use of them ... the weak will become a prey to the strong." (James Madison Institute)

The James Madison Research Library and Information Center

"Indeed, it was President George Washington who urged the first Congress to pass an act enrolling the entire adult male citizenry in a general militia. The father of our country further urged that "A free people ought not only to be armed, but disciplined."

Benjamin Franklin:

"They that can give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty not safety."

Now for the Supreme court's latest ruling:

District of Columbia v. Heller, 554 U.S. 570 (2008)

"The Second Amendment guarantees an individual's right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home. United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit affirmed."

I can go on if you wish...

Because of the dumb asses in the Supreme court in 2008!!!! It can be debated on either side. I think I want to buy a Abrams Tank, to protect my home. OK? See there are limits already on what arms you can bear. Or I think my home would be safer if I had a ICBM in the front yard....Get it? Those are weapons of war, as are Assault Rifles. No place for them outside the theater of war. IMO.

Well that sucks. Still predicting rain for March Meet Saturday. Today is good enough for a cruise on the motorcycle though. Sometimes I think I forget things in town on purpose just to take the bike to town to fulfill that forgotten need

You'd be surprised just how many fully operational tanks are in civilian hands.... They are perfectly legal under US law to own and operate.

As for an ICBM, non-nuclear, technically, as long as it's registered with the ATF as an other than explosive device, it's perfectly legal and has been since 1791...(if they'd existed then)

with nukes, you get into mass destruction weapons. Not firearms or arms. Apples and bannas there Timmy

Matters not what I think, the world goes on, so Im not going to say anymore here.

No they are not legal!!! Come on an Abrams tank? Show me!!! Complete with uranium depleted rounds! "shall not infringe"!!

Oh and I forgot the main part. Let's not talk about being understaffed. I find myself on a wing with upward of 75+ inmates alone because we cannot afford to hire more Officers

Fred Ropkey, Crawfordsville, Indiana, largest privately owned Armor owner in the world. Just died in October. There's Sherman, Pattons, Litfields, Stuarts, Leopards, Abrams, all and more in civilian hands. Heck even France and Britian have civilians owning tanks. There's citizens that own arty pieces. My dad include. Fully operation, fully legal, licensed and registered 88 mm German Flak 88. Theres a guy in TN with a sister piece to it as well. There's way more than you'll ever know Tim. All legal.

Uranium is nucluear fuel so no. But that's only 1 type of round for an abrams.

"Hi my name is Alex, I want to register my Stinger missile. It's unarmed, no worries." That would go over like flatulence in Church.
why? they are just an Other than destructive device. As long as it is registered with the ATF, it is legal. Its the non-registered stuff that is illegal.

I can buy a fully automatic M134 Gatlin gun if I had the money, provided it is registered prior to May 1 1986. It's fully legal.

I went to many USMC surplus auctions when I was young. Never once did I see a tank for sale. How the heck does a civilian get access to such?

There's a giant tank/armor auction every few years at Aberdeen Proving grounds and at Camp Grayling. Last one was in 2015. Usually it is ones from WW2, Korea, Vietnam era but there are a few from the late 80s/early 90s entering the market now. All perfectly legal provided you go thru the background checks, the mile high stack of paperwork and the 90 day waiting period to become a registered buyer. It's not cheap though, you're looking at half a million or better for most old tanks, newer abrams and leopards, you're looking at a million plus. Then there's the actually tax stamps and paperwork fees.

heck, you can actually buy used US fighters. There's a guy in Indianapolis that owns an F4.

Well, they figured out what went wrong on the garage door in Memphis. The dumbass installer used screws that were too short and they were only about 1/4" into the stud. The replaced them with the correct length screws and it's all good now.

Ah... I figured theyd not gotten them into the stud and maybe just caught the edge. That's even worse.
