Just doing what I do
That’s really strange. I would have never thought that.It is backwards from the convertible! Who would have thought that!

I think it is able to be assembled the opposite way. Mine is open on the back side...That's sure what it looks like. I saw one posted like that before and kindof scratched my head wondering if it was possible to assemble the other way.
Lemme see if I can link it. He didn't say what year, but its a black mirror with the safety trim.

Yes. I don't think mine can. The exterior tapers in a slightly bullet shape. Here's a better view of one from ebay that's similar to mine.I think it is able to be assembled the opposite way. Mine is open on the back side...

Dang Tim! How long is the stem? That top is definately the same style as my '67! Only difference is the chromed vs the brushed finish.
That’s why I said I think all the ‘67 ones are the same. ‘69 May have different part numbers depending on how they are assembled.Yes. I don't think mine can. The exterior tapers in a slightly bullet shape. Here's a better view of one from ebay that's similar to mine.

It makes sense to use the tooling available. I would have ythought stylisticly they would want to keep updating the whole line with a the new look, but maybe the production side folks decided otherwise. That’s why I said I think all the ‘67 ones are the same. ‘69 May have different part numbers depending on how they are assembled.
Mine is a chromed flip switch, side to side.Something new to keep an eye out on when at car shows etc.
Its funny how certain items, like the details of overspray on an engine, get lots of interest, while other items like the mirrors or wipers - which many more people see, get overlooked.
Here's the post about the day-night button. Review Mirror Variations?
Another little mystery.
It’s actually clever to make them reversible since the other side of the stem has a different look with a center groove vs. solid. This way, they get a different look depending on how it’s assembled but both use all the same parts. It makes sense to use the tooling available. About 4 inches.Dang Tim! How long is the stem? That top is definately the same style as my '67! Only difference is the chromed vs the brushed finish.
The one on my car is MoPar.I think that’s a ‘69 replacement mirror.
As is mine, and mine is definately the '67 only mirror. So it seems some cars got pushbutton in '67 (maybe early production?) and others got the side to side even though the parts book list one part number. Interesting.
That makes sense. It looks more like Dave's. The one in the photo seems to have the tapering more like '67 - I wonder if it has the center groove ?The one on my car is MoPar.
Thanks for the offer - My recollection is those are noticibly different. Hopefully this one from Ontario will work out. A few less people run over makes people happy. Cones are always safe because I push the mirror up and out of the way. That won't be appreciated when sharing the track.I got an extra from a 73 Swinger if you're interested ..

That’s not what I meant. I think this one you posted is the replacement mirror...The one on my car is MoPar.
Mine has the center groove on the back side. Front side is solid. Same parts assembled differently.Mine has the center groove.
Yes and it is placed backwards! That’s not what I meant. I think this one you posted is the replacement mirror...

I see what you're saying. I agree, in that photo the mirror is set up for a 'vert, even though the viser clips are facing inward.Yes and it is placed backwards!
Now I'm going to be looking at '68s just to see if its correct for anything. lolWith everything we've shared tonight I'm pretty sure that repop isn't exactly correct for any year, ..
