Stop in for a cup of coffee

The town nearest me, spent 1.5 million on a sign to welcome travelers to it... they put it behind a building, at ground level, it can't be seen unless you pull off the road and into the alley...
Well, you can’t fix stupid. But if it is tolerated, it becomes accepted. The blame doesn’t lie with the stupid...it is with those that tolerate and accept it.

This is cool!!

Yeah, we had inside pocket shutters on the front windows of the big old Victorian house we owned near Widener University. The house was built in 1889 for the Commandant of the old Pennsylvania Millitary College that became Widener. It was over 6000 sq ft and had a big double carriage house behind. 3 levels, 16 rooms, 9 fireplaces and servants quarters on the top floor with rear stairways for them to use. The carriage house had an upstairs tack room and quarters for the stable staff.
That's pretty cool!

That house was amazing. I still have dreams about it 30 years later. It would have been incredible restored.

We still have a few bits and pieces we saved before we sold it. The entire house had alabaster door knobs, big brass hinges and hand carved rosewood keyhole covers. We even still have the big brass skeleton keys to some of the 8’ tall solid oak doors on the rooms.

My CEO from my last company owned the James and Dolly Madison house in Philly. He did an incredible job restoring, preserving and maintaining the house before he sold it in 2016.

James and Dolley Madison House Lists for $3.2M

The first time I visited the place I literally cried over the beauty of what had been done...and my own failure to save a grand old house that would have been similarly impressive. My wife had the same response. My CEO even had a large banquet table in the large dining room made from alabaster and lit from below making it glow warmly.

It’s part of the reason my wife and I never took on another restoration even though we both love the grand old houses deeply.

Ugh! I’m coming down with a nasty sinus/throat bug.

Figures, just when I laid down the rules at work and the stress abated...here comes the bug to kick my ***.

Seems like it happens every time when the stress suddenly drops.

I feel like total crap.

I'm sure you know how they can be major commitments, whether its major restoration or remodel. I'm sure you did what seemed right for yourselves at the time. And a big house like that, more than most today could put to use unless you could also have business that needs such space, or extended family.

I've been very cautious, probably too cautious, on making a move. There was a property in Malvern that probably would have worked out well with two dwellings - one rentable, shop and garage in the out buildings.

Maybe just the change in the weather or something. Hope you can knock it down early.
Fishermans friend?

That little storm cooled things off nice. Just opened some of the windows.

Must be a weaponized virus your supervisors borrowed from one of their Pharm buddies.
Knock on wood I haven't had that malady in numerous years.
I used to get Strep Throat when I was a kid on a regular basis.
I think my GP Xeroxed an entire pad of RXs so all he had to do was reach in his desk drawer to get one.
Hope you feel better soon.

Just checked my temp. 100*

I’m never above 98.6 unless I am really getting sick.

Ugh. Noooooooo.... :BangHead:

And before Karl tells me garlic is the cure...it ain’t.

Just keeps you kin and friends away so they don't get sick too
Yep. Holding the wife and kid at bay, don’t get too close. Probably won’t go into work tomorrow to spare the few remaining staff.

Although, going in just to lick the CEOs keyboard and phone is tempting.

Oh. Do tell. I can't remember the specific's. Way too many posts ago for me.

I don't remember all the details of the condition, it was so so, he passed.

Ah, always a disappointment. I have been there quite a few times myself. Sometimes the price and/or the car just doesn't feel right. Better off to walk away.

Yep been there to. You just never make emotional purchases.
I always ask myself before buying a classic, how will you feel about this in a couple months??
