I'm just about ready to use my wood stove. Decided to have a look at the chimney above it to see if it dried out. You may recall that I pumped about 5 gal out of it with a shop vac a month ago... It dried out nicely, and now that I could see the bottom I noticed an object that did not belong there.:wtf: Looked like metal. so tried a magnet first. Slight pull, but not enough to grab. Got it out in two pieces with a coat hanger. Someone dropped a 25 ft tape measure down the chimney. screw holding Aluminum case together had rusted away, and the steel tape had rusted into a blob. lol
Weirdest thing I've ever found in ashes an ax head.
I came across this letter opener and flyer in a box of my grandfathers old thing from his Jenner service station. The damn thing is a lethal weapon!

Imagine what would happen if they tried to give these out as Expo gifts today!

no need for them anymore, no one sends letters anymore

Grilled cheese and chili for me.. Wife is making her own seasonings now and they taste so much better than the packets you buy. Not to mention probably healthier for you.

Dave, thats one ugly bird. Cool picture though.
My favorite is the eagles.and hawks.
I never saw a bald eagle until 15 years ago.
Now, i see one every other day.
I can say the population up here is improving.

Chicken Wild Rice Soup. Keith 66340Sedan gave me the recipe, I make it a lot.
I like wild rice.
My wife has a few good recipies.
I get my rice directly from the guy that picks it. Good friend has 2 rice lakes.

That is a Turkey Buzzard. They have a 4’ wingspan. Actually very shy birds and it’s hard to get photos of them in the woods.

Oh yeah, the store-bought stuff won't do once you buy it from the source.
He harvests it, then takes it to a local processor then packages it himself.
One of my jobs in my youth was turning the rice,as it was drying to keep it from heating.
That wild rice plant still stands, but its no longer operating.
