Stop in for a cup of coffee

Was on USS Peleliu (LHA5) and lost propulsion in open seas, not particularly rough seas either. Ship started rolling and kept progressing, the CO was having the CHENG's As% for dinner. Max roll in degrees before capsizing was reached or exceeded and we somehow didn't flip it, engineering got it figured out just in time.
Lol we lost our Helo Tug that way! Over the side broke the chains.

That will do it. When I was on the USS Nimitz my SIL was actually the EMO. Her crew had unbolted a huge antenna cover, think that carried ships TV, the satellite feed not the "Roger Ball" show. Anyway, her crew was doing maintenance on that antenna and didn't bolt the cover back down, helo launched before flight ops like they always do but this time the antenna cover also had lift off and went into the drink on the port side. She was called to the bridge, she said it wasn't fun.

waking up is important
I don't think I slept at all. And that's with a new "sleep number" bed a couple of weeks ago.... Other than last 2 nites, I think i' ve been doing pretty good with that
Been runnung premium in the r/t makes a huge difference in the milage from 12 to 18 so worth it actually. Just filled her trailblazer with 93 see if it does the same.
At $1/gallon difference there would have to be a 33% Increase in mpg to break even. What ever happened to 10 Cents difference in fuel grades? What's with the increase there of 10 TIMES what it used to be in a very short time? They must not have much or must not want to sell much of it if they do.

Oh mab the WTF stories no one would believe unless on a ship. When I was on it I was a BM. Took three years to become a IS. So nice not to be on fore/aft or bridge watch no matter what the weather was. BMs the land of all the A school washouts and dumb fucks.

It gave you some good liberty launch stories tho...

I had it ok, They knew I was above a 25 IQ. Pretty funny for mess duty I was the skipper's steward. He asked me one day why I was a BM. My reply. May I speak freely sir. Yes. Well sir I could not afford the betty Ford clinic but now I need a place for Alcohol! Seriously pretty funny. I have definitely been on both sides of the USN from chipping paint to daily briefing CiNPAC (yes 4 star) on the daily imagery findings. Then throw in USAF RESCUE been there done that! I got the mug also!

I had an older version of the sleep number. I didn't like it at all. After a period of time, it seemed to have you "fall" into the middle in between the separated sides. I hope that has been addressed on the new ones.

As for fuel, they say they raised the price of diesel due to charging per BTU instead of whatever they used to due back when it was affordable. I call BS :bs_flag:(they think people are stupid and many are), as the price is up due to all the diesel pickups and SUVs along with semi trucks will burn it no matter the cost (and pass those fuel surcharges on to the customer). Also, if the new policy is charge per BTU, then gasoline should have no cost difference between grades 87-93. Race fuels, maybe you can talk me into a slight increase. NOT what they are doing though.

One thing I remember is we had John Walker brought onboard, captured US Taliban fighter. Think he ended up on our ship since we had a hospital and a brig, he went to both but I think they should have left the bullet in his leg. Gen Tommy Franks flew onboard and went to have a chat with that guy
