Stop in for a drink.

Food ****, dammit !
LOL! This is a meal that I haven’t had in 20 years. My mother wouldn’t share the recipe with me, just made it for my birthday every year since I was 8 years old.

When my daughter was born, she finally gave me the recipe so I could pass it to her when she one day had her own family.

Maybe it’s just another lasagna recipe, IDK.

But between the Italian family that passed it down through their generations before they shared it with us, and our family passing it down through our generations as well...it has become a treasured way of sharing with family and friends.

I can identify with the lasagna/birthday connection  If it isn't everyone's birthday feast ... It oughta be

Sipping a Bulleit Rye Old Fashioned at this time. A leftover dungeness crab cake on the side.
I've had Bullet Rye but never had dungeness crab. I do like king and snow crab legs though.

It’s been a busy past couple of days. Finished getting the year end finances wrapped up, a half dozen house projects that have been waiting, and helped my daughter through her lifeguard certification so she can be a lifeguard at the pool next Summer as her first real job. I also got the 300C inspected for another year.

I still have a few more house projects to wrap up over the weekend...but it’s cold beer time now.

Tomorrow is another day.

Almost evening guys. I think I might have a Sunday evening sip in a bit. I bought a couple 3 liter oak barrels. I have one soaking with hot water overnight to seal it and tomorrow I am going to do a little experiment. I bought 4 750's of Cedar Ridge Bourbon. The ratings said they were a little weak (just a 3 year and I tend to agree) so I will macerate those 4 bottles in my barrel for some time. With a 3 liter barrel, almost 3 months equals 1 year compared to a 55 gallon barrel, 6 months = 2 years and so on. Of course the sampling along the way is the fun part.

Having one of these... Pretty good at under $30 for the case. Not a Bud fan at all, but had a 6 of the Bud/JB Copper a while back and liked it. So grabbed this yesterday.

Hey Mike, here is the recipe to make bacon infused bourbon. Other fat soluble flavors can be infused too using this technique (like peanut butter, other nut butters). I saw one where a spoon full of peanut butter was added to the bacon fat before mixing.

I have tasted peanut butter bourbon.Kind of fun but I wasn't a big enough fan to buy a bottle. I have seen the bacon flavored stuff but never tried it. I should infuse some for Keith @66340SEDAN he is a big bacon fan.

After dinner I'm going to brew a couple shots of that Moose Munch Chocolate Peanut coffee and add some Skrewball peanut butter bourbon to it. Sounds good in theory. We shall see. :D

Well, you can do small quantities and experiment as you go. Pretty easy to do and you might come up with some really interesting infused blends.

What the heck. I suppose I'll have drink..
And why not. I am going to meet the wife at the sportsplex for a walk and then I will join you after. A couple fingers of Tin Cup are in order.

One of the ones that immediately came into my mind was infusing Wild Turkey with real turkey flavor using that technique.

Interesting concept. Like the craft beers nowdays. Lots of different combinations. Some good....some bad.

Brat-in-law is deferring on the Tin Cup until the sinus malady he acquired after Christmas has passed. So help me if I get sick from my Christmas visit, I'll cut them outa the will

I just poured a martini. Good day today celebrating my 58 BD with a Dart ride in the Hill Country to a gunshow (came close to buying a early S&W M625 45 ACP) then hit Luckenbach for a couple beers and headed home. Though a bit windy it was a window down after the ride after the gunshow. A pot of chili is simmering to completion.
