Looks like my favorite beer, Coors Extra Gold, is in short supply again. I had stocked up at the end of Summer when it went scarce and was slowly pulling down the inventory all Winter as it had become available again.
I stopped at the beer distributor this afternoon to grab a case and the owner told me that he hasn’t been able to get his orders for it filled for the last month. He said he didn’t know when it would come in, but he had 6 cases left in inventory and asked if I wanted some of them.
Some? Hell no...give them all to me!
He laughed, and loaded them into my trunk.
Looks like I’m back up to full inventory...LOL!

Been there as well spent most of my life in that area and never liked Oly. beer.We went vacationing when I was a teen. Dad called home "Pack the trailer and the kids. The Laborers are going on strike. We're going on vacation." Up the Pacific coast we go, much of it on Pacific Coast Highway. When we got to Washington we had to stop at the Olympia brewery, Dad's brew of choice. Oly's big ad campaign back then was all about their artesian well water. We took the tour through the brewery which ended in the tasting room. 2 walls floor to ceiling glass over looking their artesian well, lovely . In the pond a large community of ducks. 15 year old brain says "there's frickin' ducks swimming in the water they make their beer out of I'm not drinkin' that stuff EVER"
True, but these are all well within expiry date. They were received just over a month ago before regular orders stopped coming. Their expiry is nearly a year away.THe can't sell them to you but they can give them away. LOL Score. Coors must still pull out of date inventory from the shelves. That's the way Coors did it years ago. We would help ourselves in the warehouse. Either that or throw it away.
Like Fred we lived at the foot of Mt Rainer for years. Great brewery great memories. Olympia beer, meh! Rainer beer was king! Holy smokes you boys are drudging up some memories! We went vacationing when I was a teen. Dad called home "Pack the trailer and the kids. The Laborers are going on strike. We're going on vacation." Ah, your distributor and not the beer distributor that sell to stores and bars. I was confused.Looks like my favorite beer, Coors Extra Gold, is in short supply again. Your a good neighbor Dave and tell the Yang father congratulations for us.The young Chinese couple that bought the house next to us last Fall had their first child yesterday. We saw them leave for the Hospital and have been watching their house for them. When I went to collect a package from the front doorstep and get the mail out of the box for them, I found it was barely attached to the post with only one screw holding it and the door was bent.
I couldn’t let it be like that, so I grabbed my tools and reattached the box properly with new screws and fixed the door so it works like it should. They have more important things to worry about so I figured I would help.
Meet young Luke Yang...if he’s anything like his Dad, the World is better place with him in it.

And when you do it, the recipient is usually bewildered.....it just takes one small act of kindness at a time.
You really are a great neighbor, and a fine human being.Well...Pei, his wife and new son arrived home this evening. Pei came knocking on the door a short time later to collect his mail and packages. When I answered the door I recognized the “new baby” bewildered look in his eyes.
I just chuckled and gave him his stuff. He said that he was feeling out of whack but figured it would settle down in a week or so. I laughed out loud and said that it would probably take quite a bit longer than that. His eyes widened and I saw the glimmer of being overwhelmed again.
Don’t worry, I said. You will be fine and we are here if you need anything.
He visibly relaxed, smiled and then took his stuff back home.
I remember those days, and just knowing that there is someone out there who understands what you are going through and that you can call on for help is a huge mind relief..even if you never call on them.
Knowing that they are not alone is priceless for new parents and having neighbors that they know have their back adds even more comfort.
Changing the World isn’t hard...it just takes one small act of kindness at a time.
Cheers!
