Stop in for a drink.

So the tasting is over! We had a total blast. I didn’t lock shop up till eleven, and even then I had to toss a couple guys out. I was beat. We had a great time, most of the participants had never sampled a single malt before so the reactions were all over the map. In the end most all picked a jack and coke over a very nice single malt. That surprised me. The Glenlivet 12 year old stole the show and crushed all the other samples. They all want to do it again, but do bourbon next time. If you have never attended or hosted a whiskey tasting I can tell you it is a hoot. We just really really had a great time. Wife made some killer munchies, deer sticks from this years harvest! Holding it in the race shop created some challenges but all in all it was a great time.

Started painting my daughters old room today. Ceiling done. One wall started (holes filled stickers and crap scraped off)... Time for a Kentucky coffee with my friend Elijah C.

Got me a new motor cycle today and time for a drink after a nice ride.

It even has a porch light so when I stay late at the bar I can see to put the key in the right spot.

The blooms started opening this morning on the first day of Spring, right on cue.
By this evening, they were pretty much all open...

Score! The manager of a local liquor store saved this for me. He only got one in. Thanks Eric!
Damn smooth for a $20 bottle.

Another afternoon with the bow saw cutting trees. I think this is the last of the cutting at ground level, pole saw/lopper is next.

Took down a large damaged lower limb on the ornamental cherry tree on the back corner and cut down an 8’ Juniper that was crowding a really nice rhododendron next to the big spruce tree on the front corner. I think the rhododendron will do much better now and fill in the space nicely.

My brush pile is next after the pole saw work to be tended to. I have to cut everything down to manageable size to put on the curb for municipal yard waste collection in 2 weeks. It just needs to be sized so the guys can pick it up by hand and toss it into the back of the dump truck and take it away.

That was always our must-have on camping trips. Sitting around the campfire in the evening passing the bottle and enjoying the smell of the smoke from the fire mixing with the aromas of the Bourbon.

The only rule was that you had to gobble like a turkey after each long pull!

That's funny but I can close my eyes and dream of the fire and the smells. It has been a year. This summer I hope we can get back to those simple enjoyments again.

That was a long time ago and miss that.

Well trying to figure out what I should drink tonight and at this point Black Velvet with 7/up sounds good so cheers all......

It was a rainy day here, but fairly warm at 57*. I figured since it feels like Spring is here finally, I would “paint” some flowers and stuff from the photos I have taken over the years...

Jason has a top ten bourbon list for $400 or less. They are all great picks. This is a great list with a lot of history and tasting notes.

It always seems to go like this.

First I was doing another painting of strawberries...

Then I started thinking of how the warmth of Spring has quickly emerged to melt away the cold of Winter...

Then, one thing led to another and...party time!

I am cussing you TMM I watched that bourbon video to the end. I have got a shopping list now that I did not know I needed. Hah! I loved his Basil Hayden comment! I literally gave a bottle of that away to a snow mobile buddy. Told him to take it on next excursion maybe it will keep them warm. I did not care for it at all. And every review spoke like it was cats pajamas. I am saying the cat like the king had no clothes! It was nasty.

Basil Hayden sucks I had to mix it with 7/up just to get rid of the bottle I had. But just my 2 cents.
