Stop in for a drink.

Another 8’ added to the rock wall. The entire wall including both sides is now 70’ long and growing. Over 3000 lbs of granite stones clawed from the ground and hand laid into the wall as we have dug holes for trees and plantings. Only 20’ left to go. Since we have about 10 more plantings eft to dig for, it should be completed easily.

Cheers!

Same way the farmers got walls around their property. Plow em up and stack em.

Another afternoon of hauling and stacking rocks. I added another 7’ to the wall. Of course, my wife likes it so much that she extended where she wants to to end by 15’. Sooo.. yesterday my goal was another 20’ and today after adding 7’ my goal is now another 28’.

I swear she is just trying to work me to death! LOL!

Time for some cold beer and forget about rocks for a while. Cheers!

Crazy weather day here. Sun, clouds, wind, rain, pea-size hail and then just about 15 mins ago...

A double rainbow. Cool!

Still making progress on the rock wall. Added another 5’ today, but now I’m out of rocks.

Guess it’s time to dig another hole and get more!

I think I will have some cold beer and think about where to dig next...Cheers!

My wife says “Photoshop an image of the back corner by the AC unit with pachysandra and a rhododendron on the end by the bay window, I want to see what it might look like.”

Umm, ok (I know where this is going).

Yep...she likes it...and now I know where I am digging the next hole in the ground. LOL!

Before and after...

My yard is plain and simple grass, weeds and a few trees and shrubs.
We are both kinda landscapers and “terra-formers” at heart. Across our last 3 properties we have planted over 100 trees, 50 bushes and a few hundred sq. ft. of perennial beds.

Our house in Memphis went from a blazing barren sun baked corner lot to a cool tree shaded oasis in just a few years. It just took planning, the right trees planted in the right places...care and patience.

Now the neighbors wish their property was as nice and comfortable...and cool.

I think your everything is in order but for me I'm happy if my lawn mower last the season. lol

I went down to the Industrial Park on the other side of the Valley today. Ran into the owner of the big Mulch Works down there and found that they have been plowing some new dirt access roads into the facility. I asked him if he would mind if I collected some rocks from along where they plowed to use in my landscaping. “Hell no, take all you want!” was his reply. He said I would be doing him a favor to take some away as the smaller rocks that I want get kicked up by the trucks on the edges of the roads and beat up their stuff when they do.

Perfect! Win-win!

This way I get to select the rocks I want instead of just taking pot-luck when I dig.

The down side is that now that my wife knows I found a big supply, I will have to build rock walls everywhere she decides she wants them!

My back hurts already!

Time for some pre-emptive beers...Cheers!

I don't know if any one has heard the news on this, but the I-40 Bridge to Memphis is shut down, cracks have been found. Gas problems, container ship blocking, covid ****.... oh well !! I need a drink

Since my Father’s Estate was finally settled late last year, tomorrow we take possession of a large number of the framed art works he and my Mother collected over the years. Signed lithographs, rare prints, etc. Some of the stuff is Wyeth and Rockwell. Others are one-of-a kind from various artists.

Will be interesting to see and review it all. So far, I only have these photos of the collection...
