Stop in for a drink.

Opened a bottle of bubbly. Go figure.
And watching the expendables...

Jeez, the glass the bottle was made of must be pretty thick, its already empty. Will wait and see if the wife goes looking for another...

Tried some egg nog and a shot of Buffalo Trace. If you like nog damn that's good. Tried B/T with ginger ale and very good as well. I have some Wild Turkey 101 and some Whistle Pig Rye. I'll have that neat for the full effect. Lol

I've been doing the Willitt Old Fashioned style, but I'm going neat for the rest of the night.

Recently heard about Buffalo Trace. Going to pick up some next time.

Really just begun enjoying the finer whiskey and bourbon. Instead of my younger days just going for a buzz!!! MD 20-20 baby!!

I joined a local tasting group. Once a month we get together and sample at least 2 mid to upper priced spirits. We have tried bourbons, whiskies , scotches, peated, single malt. Etc. It is fun to be able to try $100+ top shelf stuff without buying a bottle. Fun group!

It’s Friday for me....let the fun begin! :D

Just for fun I did a little blending. First a 50/50 mix of Wild Turkey 101 and Hunter Rye (cheap, $8/750ml)
A bit hot. (both whiskies are) Then I did a 50/50 mix of R&R Reserve which is extremely smooth (almost boring) and the cheap Hunter Rye. Now we're talkin'. It has a slight rye nose, Rye taste right off the bat with a medium warming on the tongue which goes away in a minute followed by a little caramel and vanilla. 5 min. out you can taste the oak and feel the warming almost like peppermint schnapps. Mikee Likee!

It's quite possible that you are genius mixologist!

I'm something but an expert I'm not. LOL but $10 a 750ml that tastes like a $50 bottle is a good thing.

Or a mixed up genealogist...it’s hard to say...
As long as I'm not a proctologist. Man, what a shitty job that would be. LOL

If you were a mixed up proctologist, you might accidentally get some strange!
Been aging some alkey-hol with white oak chips. Damn. quite smooth and a little complicated. It's amazing what flavors come out of the wood when you start with clear and basic flavorless alcohol. And at 80 proof it really does the trick. Bz Bz Bz zzzz

Start with 150 proof Everclear or vodka and reduce it by half with distilled or filtered water. You get 75 proof grain alcohol. You can buy American oak barrels (1 quart to 55 gallon.) or you can buy Toasted oak chips or spirals. A couple months smooths out the bite of the ever clear and adds flavors. You can put a few drops of glycerin to give it some thickness or "mouth feel" and it will sweeten it up a bit too. Some guys have been adding a vanilla bean for a little extra depth. I have infused rye and after a few weeks it tastes like rye whisky. Not as good as the expensive stuff but very drinkable. Try it out and report back here. It's fun. I have satisfied some of the guys at my whisky tasting group with my infusions. I have less than $10 a .750 l invested. And it's fun.

Add a small amount of cinnamon if you like just a little fire at the top end.
I have and it adds a extra layer of fun. I tried to duplicate Fireball and even mixed up a Jalapeno for a little extra kick (as per the recipe from the internet) LOL

Anybody try this stuff? Damn good. It's a $35 bottle. I sampled it at the wine and spirits store up the street and had to have a bottle. Nice smooth bourbon. fairly complex with a nice rye taste.
