The end is near...

Let's cut the B.S guys. You at least want his engine.
99.9 % here wouldn't mind having the car.
If you don't, you really aren't a Mopar head.
This B.S. of just enjoying driving an old Mopar is just that bullshit.
It has to have balls, big balls, to represent.

Engine is too high strung for me (much like the owner :poke:) but could certainly be detuned. But my guess is my budget isn't big enough to supply fuel to it like I would need even then.

It would be much like marrying a supermodel. Sure it would have it perks, but she would spend you out of house and home and leave you with nothing while she runs off with some Ken doll. In the end, I doubt the memories would be worth it.

Unlike some here, I don't have an unlimited budget and I need something I can actually drive. And I know I don't have the funds to buy a truck and trailer so I can tow it places, even if I didn't see that as a waste of time. That's a whole different level of funds that I can't even see from where I stand.

So in the end, I honestly wouldn't want his car except to sell it to someone that likes (and can support) something like it so I can fund my project.

@'68cuda416 Wasn't 10 miles one part of the old Pro Street Shootouts back in the 90's? To weed out the pure race cars?

Wish I had a VCR that works, think I still have a tape of one of them. I tried looking it up, and the names that came back, it was like watching it all over again.

Pretty sure that was a 30 mile cruise. Round trip. But I could be wrong.

Found it. Fastest Street Car in America Shootout had a requirement of surviving a 25 mile continuous cruise for the 1993 event. It probably changed as the years went along, didn't dig further.

We had a car show/cruise here about 5 years ago. I had a 74 Swinger at the time with my 426 gen 3. Must have put at least 30 miles on. It was a bunch of fun. My engine is down on power(compared to your almighty LA), but, i would run him on the street. It sucks I sold that Dart. All steel, all glass. I have a 73 Cuda that is the next car, but, has a glass front end and doors. I have steel doors to put on. Not a front clip. AND, I put a Liberty geared 833 behind it in anticipation for the new car. I would love nothing more than to have four weeks to put this together and not only burn your *** with a gen 3, but, a four speed to boot. I'm in NW Iowa. Just a five hour trek for me. ****, turbofreak that is on here has a gen 3 that would eat your *** for lunch. BUT, as his name suggests, it's not N/A. So, there's that.

I have no problem with Gen 111, What I do know, in factory trim it will walk all over any LA.
I think all the LA's were pigs, except for maybe the 340, maybe.
They weren’t pigs, they were made 50+ years ago.
People seem to lose sight of that.
Technology has come a long way.

I guess I should add that it was a full 12 PT. legal deal. Didn't need to be. Was 3400 with me in it.

And today we have countless drag and drive events. Just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should.

In 1972 I went 14.23 at 99 mph in a 69 Dart 340GTS
Had 3.55 gears and a set of cheap headers.
I remember it like yesterday because it was my first ever pass down a track. I was in high school.

Found it. Fastest Street Car in America Shootout had a requirement of surviving a 25 mile continuous cruise for the 1993 event. It probably changed as the years went along, didn't dig further.

I am also in the camp of not driving on the street very far from where I keep the car.
I base my decision on doing that, frankly, because I am experienced and have above average intelligence. Lol
i have front runners and DOT drag radials on my car. I don’t have a spare for either in the trunk mounted up.
Also don’t have a spare MSD box, etc, etc with me.
Drive(99%) of the time only as far as I am willing to pay for a tow truck to get me back home if something unfortunate should happen.
And we have tons of deer around, constantly, another factor.
Love to drive it on the street, and do often, but I am very thoughtful about doing so.
I have a whole lot full of cars I can drive anytime I want, rain, snow, trips, hot out, cold out….
My Dart is for ideal conditions type driving.

Your Dart is freaking jewelry! A4!??? C'mon!!!!

Hate to break it to you, but despite the number of voices in your head you are only 1 person as well.

Until you actually do something with it, you might as well be an import guy claiming his car is faster because his fart can made it louder.

It probably is bad ***, but all I see is you crowing about it and never doing anything with it.

Sign up for a drag and drive event and then come back and talk about how bad *** it is.

And inferior ring seal, and gas washed cylinders, and weak ignitions. I am sure there are other reasons, too.

And don't say your old school engine has lasted 8 years with only tune ups and minor maintenance even though it is a race engine. Might as well be on an engine stand for the work it gets.
All right, I'm in... The 340 I built over 12 or 14 years ago, gets plugs and oil changes.... you must really build some junk if they won't last a couple of years and yes I hammer the hell out of my ****

I don’t honestly know

neither do I.
what *** end gear you running?
I will say, with 4.56's, 10 miles is a slow crawl for me.
4.88’s and I said I would fill up with fuel before I left and not add anymore the rest of the day……but I’m being biased towards myself, lol

Pretty impressive considering it was your first pass ever down a track and also helps break the myth that the Gen 3 5.7 platform is so much better than 60's early 70's era muscle cars, LOL, when in actuality the Gen 3 is a turd

Thanks for the detailed logical explanation Don and to be honest you took the words right out of my mouth but we will still hear from our most jealous top fans that our cars are trailer queens because we don't drive 250 miles a day, eat hamburgers and french fries in the front seat, have cigarette ashes all over the floor and sit on the car like it's some kind of sofa.....LOL.....those guys kill me and the best part is NOT ONE OF THEM has a car that is even remotely as bad *** as yours or mine.

They weren’t pigs, they were made 50+ years ago.
People seem to lose sight of that.
Technology has come a long way.
They also choose to ignore that the 5.7 gen 3 in a modern challenger or charger naturally aspirated gets its *** spanked by almost all of the 340 Mopar's, lol. It's sooooo easy to make these guys look silly but great fun too.

LOL....I would welcome your car and bring a box of Kleenex's with you because it will be a long drive back home crying over how many cars I gap you by, LOL

What does Turbofreak run? I only ask because I have seen highly modded Gen 3's and other manufactures junk even with power adders that I still wipe their asses up with just an old school cave man technology car.
