I would imagine they will have banks of batteries that can be easily swapped in and out. That was one idea floated about a few years ago for the cars. It would probably be even easier to implement for the big trucks because they mostly run repetitive/fixed routes.

This is the battery in the Model S. I can't quickly find the truck one, but I imagine it would be similar.
Now, if the battery pack loaded from underneath the truck, you could possibly have a pit that it could drive over and be changed out. Would an extra battery be part of the truck price? Would it be part of a fleet package the trucking company would purchase? What about independent drivers? Although independent drivers may not be an issue because the trucks are geared towards being autonomous vehicles. That also means the "10 hour/800 mile day" would no longer apply.

Again, it isn't the technology I have issues with.

That was what I saw a few years ago. You drove over a pit and the battery packs were switched automatically. Expensive to install all this infrastructure, and I believe all the car or truck manufacturers would have to agree on a "universal" battery pack. It was done in the past with the nearly-universal use of gasoline or diesel fuel, coming out of pumps with universal nozzles. It could be done again with batteries and recharging. But someone will have to spend a boatload of money to do it right.

The CEC justifies the use of state funds for this purpose as supporting the Governors goals of building a zero emissions infrastructure capable of supporting up to 1 million vehicles by 2020. However, the effect on emissions will be negligible and, coming on the heels of years of major reductions in government support for needed services, the decision reflects a striking disregard for the common good.
 
I said when Musk touted his 35 thousand car, No Freakinn way he could make those at that price point. Well, so far I am right. For sure fossil fuel is a finite resource, and mankind will have to move on at some point. The carbon footprint on a Tesla is huge compared to ANY other car produced today. NOT a clean alternative by any stretch...
 
Back in 2008, dude named "Boone Pikens" - had a " Dream" ( pls Google) a Nat gas hiway up the east coast. Many huge trucking firms, Waste Man. Ryder. UPS,. The link I add is about those that change to Nat gas stayed and added, while keeping nec diesels . Oil was $100 a barrel . . Boone, like Musk, built refueling stns etc, there's still a Nat gas "co-op" alive and well cuz of the efforts of Mr. Pickens.. He, like, Musk are visionaries, the things they will/have done will last long after them. Like the Dodge Brothers.. lol. Why Some Fleets Still Like Natural Gas . . Cheers.. Merry Xmas.
