Traffic Court WTD? Updated post #35

Because they spend 8-10 hours a day driving.

Really. Please. Stop the Cop love. It is a job, nothing more or less. Some are good/some not just as with any profession. Funny to watch the public safety pros come down to our local 1/8th mile track on public safety appreciation day full of confidence leave with shattered little egos. Most have late model muscle they have no idea how to drive & my 65 Barracuda finds these kills particularly tasty. Have noticed since I've retired my neighbor who is a local cop picks their son up in department charger most mornings to take to school then shows up more times then not to drop him off at their house during his busy shift of driving 8-10 hrs.

Oldschoolcuda

"You might as well "stop this" because you are obviously not going to convince any of the rest of us."

I am not trying to convince anyone, just trying to understand the hatred toward a cop doing 100MPH and not hurting anyone.

You seem to think that law enforcement does no wrong. They are human, they do wrong, they are not above the law and should not do anything that is against the law, that includes speeding.

Never met an arrogant, greedy, egotistical, hot tempered cop, ever.

You must not get out much then.
I grew up with cops. (family and friends)

Come out here and get pulled over by one of these cops.
Looks like he's 15 and they had to make a special smaller hat for him, egotistical little bastard that can hardly talk because he's pushing his chest out so hard.

I live in what's called a "training town" and it can get interesting sometimes.

Again.

Because they spend 8-10 hours a day driving. To me that is an expert. When do you ever hear of a speeding cop in the left lane having an accident.

I spend just as much time on the road...so, should I be able to run 90 on the highway, then?

D. So are you saying that police should be held above the rest of society? They are better than us? Didn't we tell the blacks and women the same thing back in the 60's? Look how that turned out....

Yes, they are better than us, they are trained to be better than us. Us meaning good people and also bad people who dominate their work day.

Horse ****. They are armed thugs, no more and no less. The most dangerous street gangin the country is the police.

I am driving down the highway at 54mph and a cop passes me doing 125mph, I think that is great, lucky bastard.

Your not a cop, only a citizen.

RIGHT THERE

You have screwed your own argument. Cops are not above the law. There are EXCEPTIONS made for cops WHEN they MUST be used in order to ENFORCE the law

That is the ONLY justification for a cop to not be in the same category as us "lowly citizens.

You want to know the difference between "only a citizen" endangering lives by disobeying laws and a cop doing so?

The difference is, it's always more difficult to catch, to arrest, to prosecute and to convict a cop.

And 'again' since you brought that up

You might as well stop because you are on the losin' side.

We are talking about speeding.

Here is one where two officers recently lost their lives when they crashed in to each other in a high speed chase. They have no idea of why the Burns Flat officer was involved to start with.

"The undersheriff was driving an SUV that was beat up very badly in the front and the burns flat officer was driving, I believe, a dodge charger and that also was hit very badly from the front. I want to say it also had a lot of damage from the left side," said Shawn Brubaker with the Cordell Beacon.

I drive 6 hours a day. I've driven for 30 years, with only three tickets, and not accidents. I rarely speed, if at all. As for cops being expert drivers, I have seen almost as many wrecks involving cruisers as I have regular cars. Yes, most are due to excessive speed.

We had a young cop that was 23 miles away when a high speed chase started (Another sore subject with me.) He came busting through back roads using his expert driving, flew through a curve and slammed a tree. Good thing a mini van was not coming around the curve at the same time. They tried to make him a saint, saying he was killed in the line of duty. He was not even in on the chase, nor was he ever called to be in one the chase. He was just looking for some action.

In another incident a cop running 80 into town T-Boned a reconstructed Mustang, broke it into, and spilled a woman and her three kids out on the highway dead. Cop was fully exonerated, that would not have been the case for average Joe.

I drive 6-8 hrs a day while on the clock. Doesn't that qualify me as an expert? It doesn't matter how much experience or training you have, you can only look in ONE direction at a time. I have a friend who is a cop and he speeds all time (alot) he says he has a get out of jail free card. I can't see how that should be legal to endanger my family or anyone else by speeding just because they can.

I am talking about 15 to 20 mph over all the time.

Ha, cops are expert drivers. I could drive circles around those "trained" experts. :)

In some cases they are the mafia with immunity.

A thread that started out well... now...

WOW! dude, you must have been thru some serious sh#t, to think that.

I watched bent cops absolutely DESTROY a close friend's life. He made the HORRIBLE mistake of reporting one of them, and his life was ruined. When they threatened his children, he left the area. He has since left the country (he lives in Vancouver) and refuses to ever return.

We live in a free society because of order brought about by police. IMO, police should be able to bend the laws for the good of all. Speeding police can never be compared to violent crime.

Speeding police have killed many innocent citizens!

When authority figures start to abuse the laws, then anarchy is soon to prevail...

And yes, they have authority to speed, and blow stop signs, and stop lights, when they are on a call and they have their lights and or siren on or both.

But if they are not involved on a call and do it just because they can, then that is wrong and abusing their power. It sends out the wrong message to the people who see them do it.

Oh, well in that case it's ok.... (sarcastically)

What about the time that he doesn't "not hurt anyone"? What if he hit you, or your daughter, or son, or wife, or mother, or father, or one of your good friends?

It's not worth putting everyone else at risk.

That's like saying that it's ok for a mobster to shoot and kill someone during his free time because he's a pro at it and does it for a living... He's an expert...

Do they let NASCAR drivers drive any speed that they want because they do it all day on their "day job"? They're experts. No, they are only allowed to drive that fast on the track. They have to follow the same speed limits that we do...
