Turning back the clock

Denny was a pleasure talking to you today and thank you for all the information.

P.S. love your project and cant wait to see the finished pics

So this is in the MAY issue of Mopar Collector's Guide, right? I looked on their site and didn't see anything like that cover. Am I gettin stupider?

yes Rusty....May of 2019

Thanks for reminding me I need to call them to get a box or two. Nice to have for Butch to autograph when at the shows.

Naturally, the oil pan I waited for needed refinement. It was built to my spec, but I forgot the A bodies are narrower than the B/E and the hole for the drag link needs to be a rectangle instead of round to clear the idler and allow full travel for the steering.....might have the modified version for test fit tomorrow.

On the plus side, the wait gives me time to finish (almost) everything else up.

Denny just finished fabricating and installing the wheelie bars for the California Flash Duster. He had been waiting for various components to come back from coating along with the ladder bars which will be installed next. These exactly duplicate the originals down to the last detail as seen in photos from the Peterson archives.

Fellers, can yall do me a favor please? Can yall show some really detailed pictures of how yall made the reverse lever mechanism please? I'm thinking of doing something possibly similar that would require a separate reverse lever on my Valiant. Thanks.

Pm me your e-mail and I will send you some. It might be when I pull the cover back off, but I still have pieces from the proto-type that might tell the story. I will dig them out tomorrow and take some pics

Done sir. Thank you!

That right there would slap blow a Chevy guy's mind all to heck. Most of them have never seen anything like that and certainly have never had to do a work around like steering linkage through an oil pan. They would stand there lookin at it. Probably say somethin like "screw all that work, glad I drive a Chevy" LOL

The small hole in the side of the pan is for the stationary remote pickup.
Welding done, the pan will now receive an irradiated gold finish before installation.

small detail on the oil pan. No need for a dipstick. P.I.A. to work around and no worry about adding oil, just change....often, I asked Mark (fabricator) to fill the point / indent on the pan where the dip stick enters and I will fill the hole in the block with silicone. Drain (plug at rear) and add 8 qts, the level comes right to the bottom of the square opening in the baffle, 2" under the block rail.

It's a work of art, for sho and fo certain.

WOW....I'm loving it (and I re-built it)

I smile every time I walk in the garage. Some might notice the Scruff pictures overlooking the Flash. As usual, he keeps an eye on things, even when they are closed.

So, how did he do it/ Stencils, free hand / what kind of paint ?
Thot of doing that to my front hankooks , so they would match my rear hoosiers.

Hi Bob,

They are bolt-ons...... well really glue-ons from Tirestickers .com. I think they are die or laser cut. They supply a cleaner and glue that is dyno-mite.

Bob - If you want to paint letters that are already molded into the tire don't use white (it's too white).
Go to the auto supply and buy a touch-up aerosol of Ford Wimbeldon White. This is more of a "cueball"
white and makes the perfect hue.
