What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

-
On the trailer...with nowhere to go since Milan Dragway closed. No, just kidding, we'll find somewhere to race when the car is ready. Loaded up to go fetch the hood and a front end alignment and mount up the new front tires. Will strap it down and take it on Friday. Getting close!!

Son calls from work "The car E-brake is stuck on" WTF, Lexus SC400.....cue him up on a video call and ask him to pull off the brake. He can but says the car shudders when driving and there was smoke out the right side. MF...locked up rear E-brake drum? So I drive down thinking im gonna remove the rear tire and free some stuck shoes. I text him to ask if the tires are all still bolted on tight (new tires 2 weeks ago) he says yes...I tell him to put it in reverse and slam the brakes on to maybr free something. He does and it will roll in neutral so its not the brakes. So I get there and start the car, motor is usually smooth as glass and now its running like crap. I pull the lead off the driver bank coil (1UZFE: dual coil/dual distributor V8) and the car doesnt start, put it back on. I pull the passenger side coil and it starts and runs like crap, bingo: Lost the passenger side coil. 4 screws (thankfully it wasn't the bracket) and the old coil was off. Trip to Autozone half mile down the road and a $54 coil later we get it started and drove home fine. I tell him to buy the other side before it too goes and we find a new one on Ebay for $21 shipped. Well, it was cheaper than getting it towed home and I didn't even get dirty. First time in 20 years that that car has actually broken down.

Sprayed the last coat of red 2 nights ago. Unmasked it last night I like how it looks. Next step is to install the QA1 front suspension, Sway Away 1.03" torsion bars and Pirate Jacks disc brake set up.

Well, was supposed to be the day to take the car for an alignment and pick up the hood that had been painted black. Took 1/2 day vacation, had th he truck loaded, hooked up the trailer, and plugged in the trailer wire harness. Oh wait. Harness won't reach the truck!! Had the trailer for 35 years and it fit every other truck!! Nope, not long enough. Soooo...got out the tools, wire, and soldering iron...took about 2 hrs. By the time I got the car to the shop, missed my window to get the alignment done. But set the hood on it and put a smile on my face. Too bad it wouldn't clear the fuel pressure gauge. Always something....more work to do....
But I like the look!

Lapeer and Ubly are open, just depends where you’re coming from

Finished the wiring for the gearvendors overdrive. Now I just have to get the driveshaft shortened.

Got a couple more items bolted up on the 66 Dart- fan, alternator, radiator/trans cooler, and shroud. I just have to get the steering column in so I can start on the exhaust.
