Yep, springseats fit the heads.
Yep, springs fit the springseats.
Yep, retainers fit the springs.
I should clean up the casting flash on the pushrod holes, it's ugly and offends my anal-retentive attitude.
edit: note, I weighed and marked the retainers and the moving ends of the springs. Yes, I am going to balance them as best as I'm able. Will it matter? Probably not much.
Next up I get to order the hollow stem intake valves and solid exhaust valves.
I need to search the house and shed to find my rocker shafts, rocker arms, securing hardware and spacers.
I was looking into carbon fiber pushrods out of curiosity. I dont trust them. Resin saturation, orientation of the fibers, post curing are all hidden variables and without long term and endurance testing data, I will stay away.

Making room to start the car swap.
Read somewhere the slant 904’s have the same guts as V8s so I’m gutting this one to save space. Moved 6 totes using a 5 gallon bucket and a rope into the garage attic.

Well that went to ****. I never wanted to paint this thing as it I'd intended to be driven daily and hard. But after welding patches in almost every body panel I needed to do something to slow down rust.
Ling story short painting in the open air got me a paint job full of lady beetles, cheap paint and lack of skill got me a lot of orange peel.
The idea was a 10 footer but I have to fix a lot to get to that good.

Silver lining.. you can scuff it with some wet sanding and shoot it again w/o too much effort.

Washing the car inside the garage. Because someone forgot to order a Drive shaft.

Doing disgusting 340 disassembly work including removing dead mouse body off of the oil pump. Warning: gruesome mouse pics

72 degrees in metro-Detroit today, so I took the "Golden Oldie" out for a little gas & go. It may have been the last drive of the year. I put about 1,000 miles on the new engine this year. I was hoping for more miles, but the health thing has slowed me down a bit. Next year will be better!
