What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

Not installing this kit and motor mounts in my Charger yet, just dreaming of the day when I can, just had lower back surgery.

Propeller shaft cleanup... ball and trunnion service... new U- joint. Boot install was a bit of a challenge... took just about an hour to work it on.

The Car, 1985 Dodge Omni GLH Turbo. What I did? Oil change Amsoil 0w30, WIX oil filter, NTK vehicle speed sensor (topped off transmission while doing the speed sensor) and new NGK Spark plugs......getting her ready for winter. I also sprayed the bottom/underside with surface shield, trying to preserve it. It's my modern 340 Duster or 383 Road Runner. Let me see if I can post a pic.....I also drove it to the store to buy some powerball tickets....lol

Stopped at Plymouth Rd for a picture. Then Sam's Club to fill the cargo area, then by Walmart to fill the trunk. $300 lighter (I mean later) we got home!!

Spent yesterday morning cleaning and polishing the Barracuda for my son's senior pictures. Took some snap shots of my own.

Thought this might be a good thread to quickly show what you are up to with your cars today, as an alternative for people who don't have full build threads for their cars.

I'll kick it off!

Today I bolted on the new Cragar wheels and tires and took it for a quick test drive with no front or rear glass. What a great traction upgrade! 295/50/15s in the back and 155/80/15s in the front. Gave the car a whole new attitude.
I also installed my new Champion Radiator that I bought from Challenger Gary a couple of months ago. It works great so far, ran it for about a half hour with a single 16 inch electric fan and the temp stayed very steady.

Now I am removing the old cheapo headers and installing a new set of Doug's along with a mini starter that I pulled from the local U-Pull junk yard a couple of hours ago for 22 bucks.

Trying to get it driveable for Mopars in the Park. I live about 20 minutes from the fairgrounds so it shouldn't be too bad a drive with the 4.56 gears. Really looking forward to meeting some members!

-Doug

Yes I thought my red 68 was beautiful (and it was)
But the black one is just badazz
When I sold the red one I had to question my sanity
When I look at the black one I know I'm OK LOL

Kinda boring but I finally got it out of my enclosed trailer since Keystones makeup Halloween race two weekends ago finished my season. It’s in the shop so I’ll set the valves and do a compression test and leak down then fire it up one last time and squirt transmission fluid down the carb and shut it down. Then I can take my alcohol carb apart and spray it down till spring. Then I can get started doing the repairs to the body from the wreck and prep it so I can paint it in the spring.

Since the front is 4 1/2" BC and the rear is 4", I had to buy 2 new center pieces. Of course the color from the old ones was dingy and looked really bad next to the new ones. I took the best 2 out of 4 and corrected them. Masked and trimmed the shiny parts and painted them with Rustoleum Metallic and then shot them with matte finish clear.

Nice work - I'll send you mine to do!!

I finished up my Fedetal Syle power steering pump rebuild, installed it on the Dart Swinger and verified it worked. I also had to do the tap adjustment on the valve on the steering box. Its good to go now! Power steering works,no noise,no leaks. Can steer with your pinky in doth directions :)

One last drive for the season on a rare beautiful November day. Got dark on me in a hurry. Stopped at one of the car's favorite places on the way home...the gas station! Gonna be a long winter I'm sure.

Got back to work on the Alterkation suspension.....made a lot of progress.

Drilled the frame and mounted the shock tower brace.

Mounted the lower control arms, coilovers, spindles and upper control arms.

Everything is still quite loose until I'm certain everything is correct....

Then, went to mount the rack and pinion unit and it seems like the bolt holes don't line up....probably something I'm not seeing but it doesn't matter because right then, laying on my back, my vertigo kicked in.... I get that vertigo crap sometimes laying on my back looking up working on the car....absolutely horrible.

So I called it a day at that point...

Sadly the "Golden Oldie" went into winter hibernation today. Didn't put a lot of miles on it this year (health issues). However, I was able to enjoy nearly 1,100 smiles per gallon with my car family when I could. Next year will be better!

My buddy Mike's Scamp and the "Golden Oldie" at a local Cider Mill a few weeks ago.

Health issues kept me down most of the summer & fall. I moved 20 ft this year. Huge achievement still. This hasn't seen Sunshine since September 2019
