I need to buy a set of Eddy heads this week and I need help making a decision. Should I buy the 340 version 60179 from a fellow FABO member at a discount price or should I buy the 360 style 60779.

Thanks for your input

the 60779 ones are the ones with the 63cc chamber, as they will be the closest CC to the stock magnum head and will give you the 10.7 to 10.5 compression that most have

Do the pistons stick out of the deck and are you building for quench?

The 60179 head you could always mill to get rid of/reduce the recessed area of the head. That's what I did with one set.

All depends on what you have and how it all fits, and you goals in design.

You aren't going to notice a .2 change in compression either.

The 60179 deck looks like the old X/J/O heads, with the combustion chamber stepped into the head because the stock pistons stuck out of the bore. 60779 has a flat deck

everyone i know including myself that runs a 360 with eddy heads use the smaller chamber ones.

No the pistons do stick out pass the deck. They are inverted dome. I'm thinking i should go with the 60779 ones.

Leave the Edel. 340 heads alone, go for the regular Edelbrocks with less cc in the heads.

A W2 set up would work great on this and I jusy happen to have a new set of heads with a new M1 W2 intake and a new set of W2 Mopar Headers...

I have a new in the box set of eddy LA, stage 3 port from Hughes if interested.

If your pistons DO have positive deck height, you will likely have issue with the 63cc chamber. I have those heads and a 360 sb with KB pistons that have the .040 "dome" that takes up most of the piston surface. The block might have been decked .030 to square it but not sure, but with stock rods the pistons contact the head (by about .007 with the felpro .039 1008 gasket). To make it work on my current project, I am considering a custom thickness Cometic MLS gasket (.085-.095).

I know it can be done, but not sure what "other" fun issues this might stir up. I have correct pushrods and adjustable gear, and manifold gaskets can be corrected, not sure if it would make header fitment more troublesome but could if you just have enough room now. Guess I'll be finding out soon enough unless I decide to sell my heads and get the 340 model.
