What was the rarest car you ever had ?

-
Years back I traded a guitar for a 1974 Olds 442 with a 455 in it. The guitar was a piece of crap, and a tree had hit the front of the 442. So it was kind of a fair trade.

I couldn't find parts for this thing, anywhere.

It was loaded, though. Had the 455, TH-400 tranny, 3.23 posi rear, heavy duty suspension, sway bars front and back, a fancy louvered hood, ram air setup, stripes on the hood, sides, etc. Color-coordinated wheels, captains chairs, Hurst console shifter.

After struggling to find parts for a year or so I sold it for a few hundred bucks.

Afterwards I read an article in some musclecar magazine. There were only something like 250 made in that particular bodystyle.

Rarest car i ever owned was a 1969 Dodge Charger R/T 440 4 speed car.
Was Turbine Bronze / White stripe / Black Top.
For me it was the coolest car ever......Man i wish i had it back.

Some nice cars rolling down the screen.

As for my rarest, still sitting on it: my '69 Sport Satellite 4 door, 383 4bbl. The numbers vary. One source said it was 1 of 29, one source said it may be as high as a few hundred. I do know the color is rare: Q5. According to what I've read in the breakdowns only 7% of all Chryslers for '69 escaped in Q5. Add to that Magnum 500s, power steering and trans cooler, 3.55 8.75 Sure Grip. 11" brakes all the way around.

What I do know is that most of the Chrysler gurus I've spoken to have yet to see an existing Sport 4 door with a 383 2 or 4 bbl. Given the idea that a lot of 4 doors have been stripped of parts to aid in the restoration of the more desirable two doors, generally treated as a just a 4 door and driven into the ground, or wrecked and seen as no big loss... no matter how many you think may have been built: 29 or 200, how many might be left?

Although not a very desirable car my first ride was a 65 Dart 270 post with a HP273 and a 3 on the tree. One of about 8.

OK I had a GM that would be considered rare I had a 1987 Regal T Type Maroon with a Maroon interior 45/55 split bemch seat with a column shifter which after I sold it I found out it was 1 of 2 with a Maroon interior and the only one with a Bench seat in that color combo.

I also had a Panther Pink 1971 Dart Slant 6 car that was converted to a big block when I got it.

1970 Roadrunner 383 4-speed Dana 60 Hard Top Vitamin C orange with a Factory Lift off hood

1986 Grand National with what I thought was a custom 4 speed but come to find out the guy ordered the car from GM with the manual and paid out the but for it.

34 years old and I kick myself everytime I think of letting these go

My old boss Kicks himself for the one he let get away

1970 Challenger 440/6 4 speed R/T with louvers in get this Plum Crazy (painted brown when he bought it in 1978)

I still own the rarest car I have ever had.

I know it's not rear wheel drive but it's still a lot of fun!:-D

2.2 liter Inter cooled Turbo
Forged Crank and Rods
Full floating wrist pins
Mahle cast pistons
4 wheel vented disc brakes
Getrag A-568 super duty 5-speed :burnout:

Well, that would be my 1970 Roadrunner 383 4BBL Sublime Air Grabber 4 Speed Hurst w/deluxe interior and full chrome trim.

I sold it in 1977 for $600. (no rust) to make way for a Corvette.

Let the beatings begin.
:banghead::violent1::rolleyes:

My 68 340/4 Speed Formula S Notch is one of about 350 or so.

Had a 69 340/auto Non-Formula Notch;

a 70 440-6 Pack/4 Speed/4:10 Dana Charger.

Also had some rare Fords, A 67 390 Cougar GT, a Non-GT 66 K Code Mustang (Pretty rare as far as Mustangs go).

My dad had a 73 duster 340 4 speed and a sunroof. No clue on how many were produced like this but it sure looked good in red. Traded it in for a datson pick-up and had to fight to get $900 back in 78. Last he saw of it, it had a hole in the hood and was ready to race :'(

Not a Mopar, but in 1982 I drove past a bodyshop a saw a silver 60's Olds out back. After a quick 180 in the street, I zipped back, and there was a 1968 Hurst/Olds! Long story short, I hunted down the owner and bought the car, minus engine, for $200! About 15 years ago, we had to sell the car to salvage the family farm against taxes due or else. Car went out of state; wish I could at least find it today to see it. Verified H/O- one of 515 built

Rarest car I've owned...1976 Chevrolet Cosworth Vega. #2878 of 3508 total built during the 1975-76 model years. Bought in 1978, sold it in 1992 to help pay for a move across country when my wife entered med school.

My uncle gave me a 1 of 247 Volare street kit car w/ a factory 360 hp. It had been sitting and turned out to be a complete rust bucket, but I'm using the engine and 8in wide steel rims on my 66 Valiant.

64 Barracuda, 273 commando 4-speed car. It had all the formula S options but no badges, it even had an A-body 8 3/4 under it. I don't think it was that rare, but it's probably the rarest I've ever owned. I bought it as a rolling chassis to drop my big block into, but it was rusted pretty bad so I sold it to a fella that planned on turning it into a drag car.

Probably the rarest, and I still have is a 1974 Cuda 360 Auto...about 761 produced

Ordered a 97 Miata, R package. These were only imported to the US. The Package was a $1500 option on the base model designed specifically showroom stock Solo racing.

So… Worldwide production was 47. My car was #13 of 47.

Ran across this recently. 70 Sport Fury S/23. Apparantly 689 made? Price was right considering the period correct 383 4bbl, but I don't have the heart to break it up, nor the need for yet another project.

As for the rarest car I own, my '64 Rambler Ambassador 990. 2 dr HT, 327 4bbl (NOT Chebby). Bench seat car. Somewhere around 1400 made.
