What was the rarest car you ever had ?

-
In my 42 years on the planet, I've had a few rare/now high dollar Mopars in my possession that I was dumb enough to let get away.
1. 68 Sport Satellite Conv.383 4-bbl.-was my first car in 84 in high school-fixed it up and drove the wheels off of it-then sold it to a friend who owned for the next 10 years.
2. 69 Coronet R/T conv. 440 and a 4-speed. 1 of 99 or something close to that number. Dad sold it while I was stationed in Germany. Idiot wrapped it around a tree 1-2 weeks later!
3. 691/2 six-pack super bee-was a real one, but had a badazz 383 in it when I got it. Dad also sold it when I was in Germany.
4. 70 six-pack cuda- took this car with to Germany-had a lot of fun on the autobahn! went to Munich for Octoberfest in it! Yes, Uncle Sam footed the bill for shipment to and from. brought it home, restored it in the early 90's-and could not give it away for $10000 in mid-90's! took 2 years to sell-probably take 2 hours now!
5. bought the wife's 70 340 4-speed dart in 96-still have it, put 2000-3000 miles a year on it. Had to restore it from the ground-up first though.
6. bought my original Mopar back in 02 from some clown who had it. 68 sport satellite conv. It shall not leave my possession again.
7. 70 six-pack road runner 4-speed post car waiting in the barn to be redone.
Man, that's too many for now-I gotta stop this-Help me!!LOL

not especially rare but the rarest I have owned....1965 Chevy G-10 Sportvan Deluxe. Of the 4000 or so Sportvans made in '65 about 1200 were Deluxe's and mine is a factory auto. Originally 2-tone turquoise and white with 194 6-cyl (now a 230 with dual exhaust and 2 2bbl carbs) and powerglide trans (now with TH350) yes its a Chevy but still a cool little truck and you don't really see them at all anymore.

Rarest cars I've personally owned:

1. 1970 340 4 speed Challenger convertible 1 of 265 or so I was told. I bought it in 1987 as package deal including a genuine V code 70 Challenger 440 6 pack car hardtop The convert was hit real hard on the driver's front bending the frame rail. The 440 6 pac car went through a flood and was severely rusted from the rear seat back. Guy I got them from was considering using the hardtop to repair the convert but bailed because he was really into Chevies. Parted out the convert and sold the hardtop.

2. 1971 Challenger convert 1 of 2165. Bought it from a friend in MI. One day opening both door and couldn't get the doors closed again. A pick hammer went fright through the undercoating that was holding the car together. Parted that one out too.

3. 70 T/A with no engine or transmission. Traded that one for a 69 Dart GT convert and ended up selling that one as well.

4. 65 Coronet 440 convert. Rusties got that one as well and parted it out.

Don't know how rare they are but still got my 65 Dart GT convert (bought it in 84) and my 65 Valiant Signet convert.

My 68 340/4 Speed Formula S Notch is one of about 350 or so.

Had a 69 340/auto Non-Formula Notch;

a 70 440-6 Pack/4 Speed/4:10 Dana Charger.

Also had some rare Fords, A 67 390 Cougar GT, a Non-GT 66 K Code Mustang (Pretty rare as far as Mustangs go).

I like that Fastback Mustang!

My grandfather raced around Detroit through the 40s&50s. For his past connections he was asked if there was anything that he might want. he wanted, and got one of the very first corvettes ever made. He did race it around Detroit. Funny part was that car ran 161MPH. The tranny went out, he traded it back in for another and the second car (exactally like the first only ran 157MPH. It has been a while but my brother has a picture of him making a victory lap in it with a checkered flag. Oh by the way Flatt Rock racway banned the car from running because it was a ragtop. Also because the car passed the feature driver taking hot laps. Second My father raced aMaxWedge back in the late 60s it was known as the Wailer. He also had a CanAm cuda (in which he traded for a Hemi Roudrunner. Thats just a few I,ve been around and had a few myself.

Belive it or not in 1988, A Friend and I Nigel Mills, went to NC and had a tip about a 69 cuda 340 4 speed console car, I bought it. Apearently 482 built. I sold it in 1990 to get married to my FIRST WIFE! Dam I wish I had that car today!.. But I have married for the second time, and my wife excepts my 1970 340 4 speed Duster! Second time for me is Great! Life is great! But I do wish I had that Cuda!

I noticed you didn't say Mopar. My rarest is setting in the garage under a cover. It's a 63 Princess Grace of Monaco Thunderbird. 2000 made and it is #808 purchased new by the Teamsters Local # 13 in Denver. John Saulter Sr., the then president of that local, drove it as his perk car. He took it with him to Missouri when he retired and upon his death his son, John Saulter Jr., got the car. Jr. has told me that on many occasions he has seen his dad pull up in the drive at their home in Denver with none other than Jimmy Hoffas *** planted in the seat of this car. He claims they would drive from Denver over the mountains to Vegas to check on their business ventures and avoid the shutter bugs at the airports. I do have some documentation.

Wow, this is an old thread but could still be fun. My 68 fb Barracuda bb 4spd. is one in 552. It`s probably the rarest car I`ve owned unless there were fewer 69 Super Bee`s with 440-6 4spds. produced.

OT,
1) 65 Formula 'S' (no rallye pack).
2) b2b 50' Pickup (218 six flattie)

OR... don't hate me folks, 2 of 1,540 ever made. Escort Turbo GT's

Again, don't hate .... just some stuff I came across.

And just so ya'll feel better there was this 68 383 833 special order Charger.

Bought a 71 Cuda convertible in 1979 for $850

It was Curious Yellow, black power top, black interior, auto on floor with console 383, 11" drum brakes

have read there were 384 71 Cuda convertibles, but also have seen 283 so less than 400 71 Cuda Convertibles built. The 383 was the standard engine in the 71Cuda so that isn't that special, but the curious yellow probably was.

Bought a new boat in 85 and ended up selling ($1,750) the Cuda and keeping my 72 Ralley 340 stick (had hemi 4 speed from a 70 440 6 pak cuda in it was factory 3 speed)

also has a 67 Coupe Formula S 4 speed Barracuda, 273 HIPO. motor blown when I ot it so put a 340 in it.

factory 375 HP 396 69 Chevelle 4 speed thriple green with green cloth bench seat

I WANT MY CUDA BACK, it is less than 10 miles from my house and the guy that owns it said his grandson wants it.

69 Pontiac Trans Am was young, in the Army, in AZ someone had done some work to it and I didn't know anything about the TA's. Was racing it, engine started knocking, took it to a dealership in Sierra Vista and traded it for a (Don't swear at me too much) toyota celica.

65 Ply Sat, 2dr, 383 4bbl, auto on floor sold it to a guy in Greenwood IN, no funds to do anything to it.

58 Buick Special, 2dr was a really enjoyable ride and I don't see any of them anymore.

'67 Plymouth Satellite 383 4 speed stripper car. Manual steering and brakes. Only options were tinted windshield and bucket seats. Don't know exactly how rare it is, but I've never seen another. Anybody got production numbers for it?

My bestfriends dad has (not had) has a 1969 barracuda formula s factory 383 4 spd notchback frnt disk brakes big rear, swaybar, coil over shocks 1of 53 . Ever made. . . . . but my most rare is the car I own now 74 plymouth duster haha nothiin special

I still own my rare one, although have parked it after logging 40,000 big block, drum brake, armstrong steering miles. 69 M-code cuda, all orginal and matching.

I had a '70 AAR. Lime green, non rally dash, auto on column,Everything delete,RUST bucket. Paid 2 grand in 1999 for it. It had a warranty340(not a T/A block)and darn near perfect interior!! I kept the 340 and sold it.( i threw in a T/A block that needed 2 sleeves) to a guy in texas.

'71 Demon Ev2 360
'72 Demon race car 340
'09 Challenger R/T 6 Speed

Rode in a 69 Charger 500 Hemi Car. I was at the Hemi Nationals a number of years ago and rode around the oval track at Indy.

My rarest Mopar: 1967 Hemi Coronet R/T convertible. 4 speed, P/S, P/B, White with black interior.

Rarest Ford: 1967 Mustang GT convertible. According to the Marti report, it was 1 of 12 built in the color combo of Dusk rose with a Black deluxe interior.

Rarest GM: 1969 Camaro SS396 convertible,

Had a 73 Pontiac Gran-Am 455 H.O.Also turned down a buy for a 71 GTO 455 H.O 4 speed forget production #,s but was very low.The guy wanted $1000,it needed frontend work.

Don't know about rare ... but I had a 70 340 swinger triple green stripe delete car that I wish I still had .....

Rarest car. My parents bought that 64 Custom 880 brand new.

The production stats state they made 101,000 +
1962, 17,500
1963, 28,200
1964, 31,800
1965, 23,700
Total: 101,200

But i have hardly ever seen any.

Ours was a 4 door sedan. There was a butt ugly 64 Wagon running around the neighborhood years ago, and i saw a 2 dr 64 in a garage once.

My dad sold his in 88, and i saw it again in 95. But havent seen it since.

I have never seen any of the yrs at car shows, or going down the road.

Wonder how many of them are left.

I bought a '70 Swinger 340 in 1975 with 68k miles on it. It was B-5 blue, bucket seats, blacked out hood and scoops, and a 3-speed(only made 1500 this way). I sold it in 1978 to build my first house, but...I kept the 340 and the bucket seats. Rebuilt the 340 in '95 and it is now in my '69 B-5 blue Swinger, with a 4-speed. It still needs to be painted.
