What's your favorite old school Japanese car?

I loved my little 81 Toyota 4x4. Bought it new, bone stock, radio delete, white steel wheels, then went to town. Had loads of fun with it.

Speaking of Supra's. The family of a buddy of mine owned a Toyota dealership and, of course, he drove what he wanted. One night he and his girlfriend took a brand new 1982 Surpra and I was in the truck above with my girlfriend. We went out to a bar, had lots of fun, and he and his girlfriend got into a fight. He took off in his Surpra. When we left, we took his girlfriend home, I dropped off my girl, then went home. At 3am I get a phone call that he was in an accident. He "drifted" off the side of the road and launched the car over a hill. Killed him. Damn car was fast, for sure...and he wasn't afraid to push it. RIP Denny.

I also owned a right-hand drive 85 Datsun B210. The first car I bought after arriving at RAF Greenham Common in the UK.
I had a '79 in that same color with some white graphics on the sides. It was a very popular little truck on Wednesday nights on Van Nuys Blvd.

There are some 80's JDMs I want to mention:
Galant VR4 AMG
Starion
Celica Supra A60 (not very pretty but looks good with the right modifications)
Skyline R30
Silvia S12 RS-X
Century V12
SA22 / FB

But in a time where everybody worships the 69/70 Skyline, 240Z and the 2000GT (not to mention the R32/33/34, S13/S14/S15, FC3S/FD3S etc.) I'm here liking this:

I'm a fan of the 80- 82s. Had a bunch of em. 3TC,1.8.. big valves, hemi head, big intake and exhaust ports..

I had a 77 or 78 280ZX back in 85. It was black with the gold stripes. Cool car but I don’t remember much about it other than the aftermarket r roof leaked.

Here's my favorite pic of a Toyota...

My Dad used to torment our next door neighbor about his..

".... Mike , could you park that Toyota farther away from the house?
The racket it makes rusting out is keeping me and the missus up at night !!..."

:lol::lol:

Chrysler conquest tsi aka Mitsubishi starion.
Dodge stealth r/t twin turbo aka Mitsubishi 3000 GT.
It's a toss up but I would probably take the 93 dodge

I had/have a 1986 Toyota PU, 2 wdr, 4cyl, 5sp. 8 ft bed. Best all-round vehicle I ever owned (blastfamy, I know). I retired it from regular use just before "covid", with 414,000 miles on the odometer. Never had the head off the motor. Only major engine work was timing sets. 25 mpg empty, about 22 mpg in "normal" use, and 18 mpg towing my race car. Extreme use, I made a trip from Florida to Mason-Dixon Dragway in MD. I weighed 9,980 lbs, and averaged 18.3 MPG. I wish I could find another one of those with a non rusted body. Can't hardly even find a new truck with a full sized bed.

Datsun 2000 Roadster…. I sold mine about 20 years ago because I didn’t think that they would ever be worth anything… I was wrong.
