Ross' '71 dart swinger

On the shipping that was what I was hopping you would do, and like I said feel free to take a little more off because of my bad packaging. I was hopping to get two of the knobs but one will be fine with the base plate. Thanks!

Two handles w/knobs and one armrest base it will be. They will be on their way tomorrow.

We all love seeing photos, don't stop.
Well I haven't had a chance to work on Tara's dart because I have had work, school, and another car. I can only have ONE parts car at my grandparents farm (my dad gets 5:bs:) so since I had a '76 aspen as a parts car for my '77 R/T I had to part it out and send it to the crusher. The reason I need the parking space is because I found a 318 sway bar '74 dart sport for 600 that I am going to snag the front suspension and swap with Tara's. I found a buyer for the '74 so all I have to do is the suspension swap and send it on its way and then I will have a covered parking spot for my '70 challenger. Any way I have also been waiting on the piston, bearings and rings for the 360. The pics are of the 360 block painted and the car I parted out to make room. Does anyone need F body stuff? I took me about 10 hours to strip bag and tag everything and it went from being pleasantly warm to hail/snow with a bone chilling cold wind. I do now however have all the nuts and bolts bagged and tagged so I can put mine back together.

Last night I got the /6 suspension almost pulled in anticipation of the '74 dart that I picked up today. I haven't been able to figure out how to get the t bars off??? The sbp drums scare me!!!!!

ok i just checked the duster and theres a nut under the steering box and on the other end there is a snap ring...at least i think its a snap ring.

the nut is what releases pressure if i remember correctly...

I tried that and haven't been successful yet. Thanks for looking!

I also looked at my newport and saw the same. I will call one of my buddies who races Mopars and I bet he will know.

They make a tool for removing the t-bars. Pretty much it is a clamp that you clamp on the t-bar then....never mind you just pulled in my driveway.

Once you loosen the ride height adjustment bolt all the way out, you just remove the clips and pound them out with a clamp type torsion bar removal tool.

It clamps onto the torsion bar, and you hit it with a 4lb hammer......they come right out....bet you could make one, or get one off of Ebay.

I drew a quick rendition of what it looks like (at least the one I used).....You hit the flat surface when it is attached to the torsion bar with the U-Bolt and the handle is hanging down....

Good Luck.

Maken way for the spool mount. since I have every thing out I may as well paint it. Thanks to all who weighed in on the t bar removal your help is always appreciated.

Today I pulled apart the '74 dart front end, cleaned and inspected everything. Then I painted. Its been a busy day.
I ended up buying a new p/s hose and a pitman arm, and replacing the upper control arm bushings. Everything else was ok for now. tomorrow I pick up the new lower control arms and sway bar set up. The last few pics are of all the stuff in the trunk.

In post #62, looks like someone murdered a robot there. LOL!

Can't wait to see more progress.

Looks like you found yourself a keeper with that lady of yours.

Today was busy, I went to school, then picked up the sway bar and lower control arms, painted them and assembled everything in a dry test fit! This week I plan of painting the bay and putting the suspension in so I can roll the car around again and then drop in the 360. anyway the last two are of the phantom 360.

This is a great thread and what it's all about. I think your headers are tilted too far out to mate to the exhaust ports on the heads though:) Keep up the good work!!

So you are going to paint the engine bay now instead of later? I will be around this weekend so if you need a hand dropping in the 360 give me a call.

Yha I am just going to bomb can it though because we don't know what the final paint color will be

What are you going to do with the old upper control arms?

looking foward to seeing this on the road!! I have a 71 swinger also, and I live in kirkland as well! What carb are you using?

I also should mention.... I lost my gas cap (painted orange) in kirkland the other day, so if you come across it..... ;) I had to find a replacement for mine as well, no ones part computers comes up with a match..... but I found someone kind enough to allow me to test a bunch of caps that they had, and found a stant cap that worked. it's black with a metal insert warning label on it. the metal warning deal is easily removed. I might be able to dig up the part # if you're still needing a cap.

Cool! I live on 5th right next to KJH I will be out working on the car most nights feel free to stop by. On the gas cap I figured out a solution, I am running the '73 dart sport fuel filler and cap.

cool! I pretty much live on the other side of the freeway.. I'll have to drive by one of these nights and see if you're out there working on her.

Kinda a weird pic. I don't know what happened with the camera. We got the bay primed tonight, tomorrow it's gonna get wet sanded and then painted. And yes JR I think the engine will become orange.
