    Converter upgrade worth it?

While mine certainly helps off the line (almost too much = no traction), it also really improved the performance from a roll, lower rpm/partial throttle. Flashes right up to the sweet spot/powerband. Can spin them from a 20-30 mph roll whereas I didn't before. YRMV Pat

    Converter upgrade worth it?

I went with a 3500 stall unit on my Duster last year. Really perked it up. Tight enough to allow me to cruise around town and a blast when I stand on the loud pedal. Trans cooler is a good idea anyway, but especially if you go to a higher stall. Pat

    manual valve body

That will make getting it installed a breeze. I use a RMVB in my Duster and love it. (Like you, I like to shift LOL!)

    manual valve body

You'll need a MVB unit (fairly easy to swap with the standard VB). Shifter linkage is straight forward with aftermarket shifters, though it can take some fine linkage adjustments to get it shifting just right. I find it helps to have someone in the car moving the shifter through the gears while...

    Trans issue or something else?

Maybe the torque converter has a higher stall or perhaps is going bad. Total shot in the dark based on the description. And congrats on your new ride! Pat

    Low Band Apply Question

Hey Folks, I was wondering if a manual valve body (727) without low-band apply can be modified to apply low band? Just curious as I am kicking around some options for winter projects. Thanks in advance to the resident FABO Torqueflite gurus! Pat

    Tranny oil pan issues....

I have 1 bolt stripped hole on my 727. I ran a longer bolt with a washer and nut on the top side. Not ideal, but did the trick. Pat

Dip Stick Question - Is it just me, or???

Yes, I know that. My comment was that I was confident it was not overfilled. Completely drained, changed filter, sealed it up and checked it hot after a short cruise. The "good" side is spot on full, "bad" side shows crazy overfill. Even given the fluid that was retained in the converter, I am...

Dip Stick Question - Is it just me, or???

Hey Folks, Question for the FABO crew. When reading my 727's dip stick, one side reads filled and the shows way overfilled. been like this since I bought the car. I am confident it is not overfilled as it took 8 qts to bring the one side to the fill level when hot. Just curious if this is...

Yep, that's what I ended up doing. Thanks man. Pat

Torque spec for 727 deep pan filter/extension screws?

Hey Folks, Anyone know the torque spec for the 3 filter screws on a 727 w deep pan extension. Not finding it in any of my manuals. Historically I've just snugged them up by hand, by trying to do it "by the book" this time to ensure a good seal with the valve body. Thanks as always! Pat

Setting Up a New 3rd Member Question

Hey Folks, Moving the Duster project along slow but sure. I'm now to the point where I am ready/need to tend to the rear end. Currently a peg leg 742 w/3.23's, going to a Suregrip unit (Dr Diff) and 3.91-4.11's. I should have no problem getting the center section out and back in once it's...

B&M Flexplate Bolt align to converter

    Perfect street/strip converter

Like the OP, I too am on a tight budget. Contacted Hughes and they directed me to a 3500 converter. Too soon to say it rocks, but plan on putting it through it's paces come spring. 340, unknown grind (but appears to have a lot of overlap) 3:23s going to 3:91s.

Factory Manual Car to Automatic floor shifter location

Hey Jason, I riveted (In case I ever get around to getting a 4spd backin the old girl) a sheet metal cover where the 4spd shifter hole was, and mounted my shifter where it felt best. Be well, Pat

    727 or 904?

Hey Sublime, May want to give this place a call. While I only had them press in some bushings/seals for my 727, the manager Chuck and several of the technicians are old school Mopar guys. Seem like real decent folks, and I'll go there if/when I need trans/rear end work. That said, I suggest you...

    Tranny won't bolt to mount

Maybe try turning the rubber mount around around? If I recall the screw is off centered. I had to flip mine around to get the threads to line up with the hole in my member. Just a thought? Pat

727 TF Dust Cover Bolt Size

Hey Folks, Got the 727 back in the Duster this past Saturday (Feeling it today!), and need to get some fasteners on my way home from work today to secure the dust shield, specifically the 2 small holes circled in yellow. Anyone know off-hand what size they might be? Thanks in advance! Pat

    8 3/4 question

I have a 742 in the Duster and think I'll got that route, i.e. find a chunk, get the 3.91's set up. Then find a local FABO member to help me swap it that first time :)

    8 3/4 question

Like dropshot1, I too am looking at the price point of each option. I'm going with something in the 3.91 range for my 742, but like the current 3.23's for cruising on the highway and longer trips. I think picking up a chunk and swapping it would be ideal. But I have no idea how to actually swap...
