Well, I'm being told by the modern Hemi folks that for hi compression Gen 3 's the gasket to go with is the Cometic MLX series. I can get them for $108.00 a piece in about 2 weeks, or get them right now for almost $300 a piece. Going to put a Fel Pro in there right now and finish out this...

My thought process is this, the convertor seems to not fill up in drive, 1st. But it seems to in neutral. BUT now it leaks in neutral, so it might still be the valve body assemble wrong...I mean that pressure has to go someplace, if not filling the convertor then making to much back pressure...

My comment above about checking the Valve lash is one thing I'd check as this is a 1965 273 with a solid lifter cam. Yes you can put a Hyd cam in one with the 318's rocker arms but most never did. If the lash is too tight it will run HOT.
