    Stroker 340>416 Build Advice

Anyone have experience or info on Howards solid roller billet cams? I'm considering 112113-08 for my 416, it's similar in price and grind to a XR286R which seems to be a popular choice for these strokers.

    340 Engine for Sale $1100

I may be interested in the block, would you sell it seperately?

    So Frustrated!

If I didn't have much engine building experience I would go with a magnum 318 and 4bbl carb set up so you don't have to worry about getting the right flex plate and oil pan. I personally wouldn't put money into a large main journal block but lots of people do and the difference is minimal. Try...

48 Degree R3 Block Using 59 Degree Heads?

Does anyone have experience using 59 degree heads on a 48 degree block? I've heard it can be done but what is involved and is it worth it? All 48 degree R3 blocks are siamese bore and I have heard that cooling system mods are needed to keep them cool enough for street/strip use, I read how to...

    x-block to replace 340 block

I'm building a 416 and was wondering if the x block can use roller lifters with the tie bar or if it is like the R3 and has to use the isky roller lifters. Are there any other differences to the 340 stock block?

Need a temporary motor and good 340 block

Thanks for the info, my block does have the stampings in the lifter valley above the oversized bore. I can't believe that two machine shops that supposedly know Mopars missed that, at least I didn't have too much into the block.

    Need 340 Block 4.04-4.06 Bore

My block has a few over size lifter bore and is marginally useable to begin with. I would also consider buying a running motor or short block that could run for the right price.

Need a temporary motor and good 340 block

Will a truck 5.2 or 5.9 magnum motor fit in an e-body with the stock oil pan or will I need to change it no matter what?

Need a temporary motor and good 340 block

Thanks for the info, I will look for the mark. I knew the factory used over sized lifters ocasionally but it sounds more common than I thought. I started my 416 project over a year ago and all I have to show for it is a rotating assembly.

Eddy heads on 416 stroker question

I've been looking into eddy heads for my 416 project and the only reason to use the 60179 is if your pistons protrude .030 or more, its basically a closed chamber head with .060 piston relief cut into it which is way too much. To get .030-.040 quench with a .040 head gasket the piston has to...

Need a temporary motor and good 340 block

I'll probably hang on to the block regardless but fyi its rough bored .024 over, needs to be finished honed with a honing plate, align honed, lifter bores sleeved, decked at least .010 and there is lots of corrosion around the freeze plug bores and one water pump passage.

    89-92 with 308 heads right?

Need a temporary motor and good 340 block

I all ready have a rotating assm. for a 340 block, I didn't think to check the lifter bores. I've never seen a bad lifter bore on any engine I've worked on, if it wasn't for bad luck I wouldn't have any luck at all.

Trying to buy a 360 , quick question

Keep in mind that 360s are externally balanced, you may need to change the TC or flywheel.

Need a temporary motor and good 340 block

The shop wants $600-700 for that and the block is marginally usable already(corrosion).

Need a temporary motor and good 340 block

I have a '71 e-body with the original 318 that I need to take out before the crank is completely ruined(way too much end play). I was building a 416 stroker from a 340 block but one of the lifter bores is .010" over, not sure how that happens but I need to find another block. I wanted to put...
