Well the material was sewn to 1/2" and 1/4" scrim foam and I used the original foam. It was in good shape.

Yup the only way to fix that is to replace that panel or recover the whole seat. Nows the chance to have custom seat covers.

Did all of the rear seats in a 68 fish have the medallion or was that just for deluxe interiors?

I busted seam is easy to fix. Just did it on my jeep. Pull the seat out and take the cover off, resew and install.

Stock would be cheaper because he can just copy the original pattern.

Stock should cost less to recover because they can just copy the original pattern. It also depends if you want vinyl or leather. Of corse leather is more expensive.

Im taking upholstery now in school. $400 is pretty steep just for new vinyl. But it also depends if you want it looking stock or custom. I recovered this seat in class the other day. I think it's from a 90's ford but I'm not sure.

Yes you could add more support to the seat with more contours and firmness. But doing this will force custom covers made from new patterns.

I think I found the pair that Im going to use. They are from a Jaguar, not sure on the year but I like the looks of them. Im going to change the design a little when I reupholster them.

Yeah, it takes a lot of work and time. It's not something that we can just crank out like nothing. We have to make it perfect because every time they get in the car they will see our work.

I was looking for buckets. I wanted a seat that will just bolt in. I have thought about late model seats and I'm certainly capable of making brackets for them but I like the look of older seats. Maybe I'll take a trip to the junk yard to see what I like for late model seats. I'm taking trim...

Thanks guys. RedFish, when we are done with all of the work that we need to do we pretty much can do what ever we want. This class is more about custom interiors than dealership patch ups. We make seat covers from scratch, we just dont buy covers. We will be working with new and old seats.

My car came without the bows in place, Im in the same boat.

I pried it off with a screwdriver. There are some nasty cracks on the corners, will this hurt recovering?
