Custom made bracket to locate on the driver's side. Can't see it well but you get the idea.

How many AMP alternator for this application

This is going to be important info for us to have to get you the answer you want. I run a 105 amp Powermaster that runs twin Ford Contour fans, electric water pump, and electric fuel pump, plus lights and a stereo system complete with aftermarket amp and all that. Seems to be sufficient enough...

    Ez wiring for 73 duster

I also bought my EZ harness from a member, still new in the box. Documentation isn't the greatest but once you really start looking at what you're wiring and pay attention to one circuit at a time, you can get it done. I can't offer much help if you're wiring in to original gauges and...

I'm not really sure how to respond to that lol

Street/strip car: Elec fuel pump and fan?

Thanks. That's what I was going for was a clean, switchless dash. It's tight in there with the wiring but it does the job.

Street/strip car: Elec fuel pump and fan?

I was gonna say ash tray too, but looks like you're not gonna be able to do that. I have my elec fuel and water pumps on manual switches. But no doubt every pump should get its own relay. Other than that, I'm not sure where you could put switches without cutting holes in the dash. Maybe add...

    Painless wiring

I believe that's what I ended up doing as well.

    Painless wiring

I did an EZ 21 circuit wiring kit. I've never done wiring before and it wasn't that hard at all with everything labeled like it is. It's wired into the factory ignition switch with a GM style column (IDIDIT). The hardest part was maybe wiring the MSD to find a wire that was hot during...

    ez wiring harness

Under the fender I wrapped all the wiring real good with electrical tape and then used the plastic stuff that straighline posted in the first picture around that. I don't really care for that plastic stuff but it will do the job. Fastened it all up with some of those steel/rubber insulated...

    ez wiring harness

I did the same. Didn't use a relay for the headlights. Used the wiring in the harness and headlights are 10 times better than they were with the old harness. Did use relays on the fuel pump, water pump, and fan though.

Dash Carrier Panel Cut Out plans

I'll throw out an idea for you so here's how I did mine. There's not much available for the 60's cars unless you want to shell out big money for a Peak Dash. Since you have a '73, you at least have the option of buying an insert for your car if you need to. Since I was changing all my gauges...

    Possible MSD 6AL failure

If you do end up having to send your MSD box out to get looked at or fixed, call Pat at Techwest racing. He's a guru with MSD boxes and will even upgrade the internals so you'll have a hotter box than when it left MSD's factory.

Best plugs for street 340? Thanks for all the input!

Probably something equivalent to an NGK 6 or 7 and you'll be good.

    custom GM alt mount

Man that looks great! Wish I had some of those fab skills. I did the same thing with the GM alt swap. Had access to a Powermaster 105 amp but couldn't mount the alternator on the pass side due to the electric water pump. With the factory water pump wouldn't have been so much of an issue. So...

Selecting spark plugs with the correct heat rating

I'm running NGK 7's on 11:1 iron head on 91 octane pokin around town. Will probably go with 8's at the track. Running 7's because that's what the local race shop recommended for that motor and the previous owner said to run 8's at the track (that was when the motor was 13.9:1 CR). I would say...

Alternator Bracket with CSR Electric Water Pump. Who's done it?

Oh I'm sure he'd love to! *sarcasm* He reluctantly said that he had about a day and a half in the bracket which is way less than what I would have had in it and it looks way better than anything I expected. We used a CVF 3 groove pulley and used the groove furthest from the block to make it...

Alternator Bracket with CSR Electric Water Pump. Who's done it?

So here's the final product on how the alternator was mounted with the CSR pump on this engine. The brackets were all custom fabricated and look to be aftermarket after all the TIG welding and polishing the builder did for me. I couldn't be happier with the end result.

Brake light issue need help fast

When mine weren't working well, it was a bad connection at the brake socket itself. I found this out AFTER I changed out the entire wiring system in the car. Even with new light bulb sockets and new wiring, the tail lights still weren't working right. Started wiggling the sockets and sure...

69 dart tail light harness upgrade?

I replaced mine with brand new factory style sockets and I still was having problems even with a brand new harness. Turns out I wasn't getting a good ground to the tail light housing so that opening needed cleaned up for better contact.

    Complete overhaul aftermarket electrical system.

Yes that's exactly what it is, an intertia switch. It just needs to be mounted vertically. I believe it's designed so that it will shut off in a front, rear, or side impact. I was concerned that it would trip during a hard launch, but after messing with it, I don't think that it will. You...

    Complete overhaul aftermarket electrical system.

I did this as well. Got a switch that fits my DD '98 Ranger from Autozone. Found it didn't come with the pigtail so I went to the salvage yard and picked one up. You could just get the pigtail and switch from the salvage yard as well. You can also use it as a hidden kill switch if you want...

    Complete overhaul aftermarket electrical system.

I did the EZ as well and installed separate relays for the fans, fuel pump, and electric water pump. I probably didn't have to do the fuel pump since it only draws like 5 amps but did anyway.

Alternator Bracket with CSR Electric Water Pump. Who's done it?

That's an idea I'll throw around. I might try to install it on the driver's side. It possibly could be easier to install there but I'll have to look at things when I get the motor back.

    EZ Wiring questions

I didn't use the tach, fan, or alt excitor in mine, but I'm not using Mopar ignition either and I'm going to use a one wire alternator. But the ignition start switch does go to your starter relay and the end of your solenoid power also goes to your relay, but with the fusible link installed...

    MSD help pls!

Call Pat at TechWest Racing. He can more than likely fix it and he can upgrade it if you want as well. Don't send it back to MSD. They will put the cheapest parts they can back in it. Pat will put in quality parts. He used to work for MSD so he knows what they put in them and how they can...
