revolution axle = 4 turns pinion (aprox) can that tell? sounds like 3:91 or 4:10

yes 8 3/4. you can find ratio by turning the axle 1 complete revolution and count how many revolutions the pinion makes. its not exact but good for a ballpark estimate. a racer here might trade you a stock housing.

it all depends on the cam in the 340, and gears. if it works why not run it?

i have a 72 swinger with rebuilt 318. i have a hard time keeping the tires from spinning on hard acceleration. worn suspention could be the culpritt as well. you can have all the power in the world but you have to be able to get it to the ground. btw mine hase stock 904 and 7.25 also

shifter linkage isnt lined up properly, check for bushings or washers between all conections. i have had this happen and it turned out to be missing nylon washers at a couple connecting points. my guess is they were worn and crumbled? not sure but you can also check for any bent linkage
