    any 318 after 85 will have the boss' for roller cam spider plate. some car motors got rollers as early as 85 but more common after 88. factory roller motors were painted black and non roller painted blue. when i got my 85 van i thought it had a roller motor but the rebuilder painted it black...

    you need to look down by the pan rail, the pictures do not show the vin pad. or as stated its a warranty block.i think if they stamped the trans they would have stamped the block as well.

    start the engine with the valve covers off, hydraulic lifters will spin as well as the pushrods. mechanical lifters do not spin.

    the pictures seem to be of different engines as one is orange and the other looks red? the stamped numbers are often not in a straight line but i have never seen a 318 stamp on a 360 block

    old school trick is to put wooden clothes pins on the fuel line as close to the tank as possible. use a few of them, see if it works. the old timers used to swear by this method but i have not seen anyone try it in this milenia. lol

    could be a number of issues. wrong torque convertor, wrong balance on drive shaft, wrong balancer, wrong crank, wrong flex plate.     i would imagine the aluminum is brittle after years of use and heat cycles. i would not try the hammer technique.

    yeah i am over all of that. I was hoping i could make the throttle body run with the sensors the current carb has. looks like electronic ignition and 4bbl swap are in my future.

    i have a 86 dodge van, it has a 318 w/ the factory 2bbl carb that is computer controlled. I would like to use the efi throttle body, that came into use in 88. i can see the ecm is different in 88 from the one on my van. does anybody know if i can wire the throttle body to work with my ecm?
