My 1974 swinger has a 360 that is using a 1974 318 alternator, at idle the lights dim, and the alternator just never seems to keep up. I am looking for a direct replacement, what is available.

I have never done one my self but I had a compant put one on my girls 2001 ranger and it didnt work from the get go, then they fixed it and then it quit working again.... Then the place went out of buisness.... So I have to take it to a different location to have it looked at....

What would happen if I mixed up the two wires on the back of a alternator?

so I took my 1974 swinger 360 auto out last night and my Head lights were turned on, a guy pulls up to me and tells me my brake lights are out, I pull into the gas station and sure enough both bulbs are burnt out, I look in the floor of the car and here is this burnt plastic with a light bulb in...

lets start from the top, last month me and my dad were putting the interior back into my 1974 swinger we had both doors open and I was installing the light bulb back into the dome light, it started to arc then blew the bulb out we got a new one, and replaced it after that, we turned on the head...

I just went to my local parts store and asked for headlights for my 1974 they showed me what they had I bought the most expensive ones I think like 30 a piece and WOW what a difference

Ya I swapped my swingers headlights out to a 80.00 pair or headlights and WOW it was like I was driving around with out headlights before that

yes it would be best to buy a new one I just replace the one on my 1974 dart swinger cost like 25 bucks from local parts store

HELPPPPPP evreytime I try to start my 1974 dart swinger I have to either play with the wires under the collumn or put the car into Neutral to start it where is my switch located and where can I get a new one? thanks guys
