I think my suspicions are correct, it looks like a past owner widened the opening.

As long as the mounting screws are outside the slots I'm guessing the slots aren't essential. I need to dig through the archives for a 69 dash photo. Thanks

Thanks FJR. The opening looks like mine. I thought perhaps there were metal slots like the bezel has. I'm doing my preliminary work now before I tear the dash apart this winter and wanted to know what obstacles needed to be overcome. I should dig out the radio and see where the anchor points are...

It's a nice looking bezel but I'm trying to find a picture of the metal underneath the bezel. I'm wondering if the steel has the same cut-outs as the bezel.

Does anyone have a picture of the thumb wheel opening without the plastic? Reason I ask is when I bought the car there was a modern radio in the dash and I suspect they did some cutting. Thanks

There were a couple of vendors in Carlisle that that take the standard equipment radio, in my case a thumb wheel, and bring it into the 21st century. Rework the interior, ad FM, ad an MP3 port. I think I saw someone on this thread run an iPOD port to the cigarette lighter hole in the ashtray.

Forget the CD's....they're about as relevant as 8tracks. Convert it all to MP3.

Did they need to do any work on the frame? I noticed they offer a full service ( media blast, repair springs and repaint) and wondering if it's worth the price?

I know that you can send them off to Legendary and they'll recover them. I've never had them quote me a price.

Creed, be very careful when you put the hoses on the plastic nipples on the foot pump. They are 43/44 year old plastic and brittle. Take it from someone who just broke theirs! When I put mine back together, I plan on dipping the hose ends in hot water to make them more pliable.

Can anyone recommend a good shop that refinishes dash bezels?

I'd like to start pulling it apart in July, probably something that should be done in the winter....timing has never been my strong point.

In the next month I'll be pulling my dash apart. While I have better access I thought I'd refurbish the heater box with new gaskets etc. I'll also be installing new speakers, fixing my gauges and radio. Question...while it's pulled apart, is there anything else I should be detailing?

In all of the reference books I have I've only found one reference to where the map light goes. Supposedly, it is installed on the upper dash above the heater controls. Can anyone confirm this? If this is the correct position, it would seem there should be a cutout for the lens in the dash...

I've only had my car (69 Barracuda) for a couple of months so I'm still finding the kinks. I think I'm gonna have to start lifting weights again to adjust my heater controls. It really takes a lot of effort to slide arms from left to right. Is this something that a little grease will take care...

For all the expense involved in the clock, it doesn't seem to make sense.
