90% of a good paint job is the prep work underneath. You did awesome.

Love the design/build process and the satisfaction of doing it all myself. Can't complain if your not satisfied with the work!

    65 CUDA HELP.. COMPLETLY new

Didn't mean to sound so negative in my post yesterday. I was trying to show you an example or two of what I mean by ins and outs. You started out with SS springs, a 360 swap and 727 trans which made me throw my hands up and say "WHOO slow down there fella". There is a lot that can be done...

    65 CUDA HELP.. COMPLETLY new

Geezzz... I almost didn't reply because your digging into a can of worms here without a true vision of what you want to end up with. My #1 recommendation is to decide what the end use will be and tailor your mods accordingly. You can go broke and end up with an unsatisfying project without a...

    Lets see those Dusters

This is my 440 tunnel rammed '72 Demon I sold back in 2009. The bottom one is the starting point for my Duster project. I gathered parts for several years and then began the transformation. Making steady progress, but slowed by everyday life. Every car in this thread is gorgeous. Was...

Too nice to use as a parts car? (pic intensive)

Tough one to call. Although I hate to see a viable car get parted out money becomes a real issue especially for someone on a budget. What is a realistic resale price for the Duster? Are the floor pans solid? If so the rust spots you showed are relatively easy to repair. If the rust goes into...

    74 Rust Problem

His words: "major rust pockets from WI salt" in all the structural components of the car. Everything would have to be replaced or repaired. He stated he wanted to save the car on a limited budget. No other info given. My thoughts: does he have the skills, materials, equipment or a work space...

    Monroe wa swap meet

Been years since I've been but used to go regularly. You do have to walk through a lot of Shovey and Ferd parts but there is always ample generic hot rod parts available. Moparts are gold plated but I've found that true at just about any swap meet. Sharpens your negotiating skills! Let us...

What do you guys think about this color ?

I wasn't going to respond to this cuz I hate opinion polls. It's like a political question, your going to get responses from the far left (resto/traditionalists) all the way to the far right ("modifiers"). Personally I like green, especially the new shades that have come out the last decade...

    subframe connector drain holes

Statement was not directed at your post TB. Are you positive there are NO pinholes in your "sealed tube"? I was trying to make the point that trapped water, without a way to dry out fairly quickly, + bare steel = corrosion. Think seams in lower quarter panels, front/rear windshield corners...

    subframe connector drain holes

I've built and installed probably 7 sets of sub frame connectors over the years (2x3 .120 wall). The last two sets I drilled 5/8" drain holes, one front, one rear as I have always been concerned about water getting trapped inside the uncoated interior of the tube and rusting away. I figure at...

    undercoating

So will the paint! LOL. If its just residue mineral spirits or wax and grease remover on a rag cleans it right off. For thicker stuff, chip away with your favorite tool, wire wheel, heat gun all work. And yes it sucks.

What do you think? Does my Valiant need a Hood Scoop?

I've always liked your current hood, its a look not seen much these days. Definitely don't like the hemi scoop, out of proportion with the car. The dual scoop looks good in combo with the black fenders but agree with most others... use a different hood. That way you could have 3 different...

Show Us Pictures of your 1st Generation Barracudas

Thanks its a work in progress. Yes on the air cleaner, it's definitely Ford. Picked up two single snorkel housings from the Ford row at the local pull-a-part. Seemed like every car had them. Removed a snorkel from one and put it on the other. Removed the air doors and actuators then...

    vegas

Some things to consider from a long time attendee: 1. The climate is very dry so be sure to drink lots of water not just beer and cocktails! 2. Chap stick or other lip balm. 3. Large brim hat, if it's hot you'll fry without one. 4. Warm and cold wx clothing. Last year we were walking around in...

What is this K member setup worth?

Good price to someone who wants to upgrade to spool mounts and disk brakes. Power steering may not help as most guys want manual. Maybe go a bit higher seeing it's a sway bar set up. This is how I would break it down if selling separate: Disk brakes $250, K member $100, Power steering $100...

msd set ups lets see them

Hid it in the glove box along with the buzz filter for radio. Coil is on the inner fender next to the distributor (440). MSD box is supposed to have airflow for cooling but mine never got hot and was in there for 8+ years.

Best compressor for home use? Any info?

Best size for an adequate home shop compressor is a 60 gallon, 80 if budget is bigger, cast iron, 2 cylinder, oil lubed unit. Had a new oil-less for a couple of years and flat wore the cylinders out of it with moderate shop use. Well worth it to step up to 220v to get a durable unit. Keep...

    FINALLY, got it home!

Yeah I remember that topic and yes I did forget about the torque boxes. Was just curious, as this car appears to be a stone stock survivor, whether it had the washer or not. My H code Demon had the washer. How about the torque boxes, does "pig pen" (Ref: "Peanuts") have them?
