1965 MMP's Barracuda Hemi swap! The Ever Changing Build

-
Been working on the inside of the car for a few days now, cleaning the lite surface rust out of some areas. Removed everything cleaned it all up.
Plan on welding up the patch holes tonight. Hoping my rear harness shows up soon I would love to start putting this back together.
I've also been trying to collect every piece of interior trim work Pretty sure i got everything now with exception of dome light lenses oh and arm rests.
Waiting on the Head liner, and carpet till I get my color interior colors nailed down. It will depend on the final color of the seat leather. I want a Distressed Dark Cognac Brown.
If I get the color I'm looking for everything below the chrome strip on the door cards or belt line would be a dark brown so cards, seats, carpet and all. Everything above would be gloss black A, b pillars, dash, upper doors, head liner and rear cargo area above the chrome strip through out the car...

All of my trim work, not pictured are the old door cards. Anybody need a 65 E-brake Handle and Pull?

Less than 2.75" clearance between the manifold and the super charger. Needed a swivel thermostat housing. Got lucky and found this low pro LS housing thats 2.125 tall and swivel. Bolt holes will need a bit of notching but nothing I can't handle..

Finished up the rust removal and finished the patch repair of the back seat area. Rebuilt and reinstalled the gas filler tube and breather in anticipation of the tank install.
While doing the gas filler install I opted to "upgrade" my setup to a 69 flip cap. It was one of my favorite parts of my 69 back in the day. Found the right cap "Used" had to be used I wanted it to match the rest of the car and look like its supposed to be there. Got the adapter off ebay drilled a few holes and installed that ****. I was soo happy with the end result..!

I'm also in the process of doing the fuel line pluming. My first issue is want to run full EFI fuel line w/quick disconnect
and I need to at least have the plum fitting installed before I install the tank. My issue is I can't seem to find NPT to EFI quick disconnect on the sizes I need. ugh

So last night I ordered up a full Earl's -AN 3/8" fuel line kit, an AeroMotive Fuel Regulator w/pressure gauge, and some extra Earl's fitting to run a solid line for both sending Pressure and return. I know how much gas nowadays sucks and how the added ethanol eats the rubber so I opted for the good fuel line made for that **** and also got enough to plum the whole car with out issue.
I should have it all in time for me to install it as well as my tank. All though I seem to be getting ahead of myself because I can't do the tank install without the Rear harness that I'm still waiting for from YearOne... ugh
:poke: I could build a mini/pig tail harness for both the pump and fuel gauge? Then install them through the body as need with plug ends. When the harness finally shows up I could just make the appropriate changes needed and install plug ends to plug into my prior made pig tails...
Gawd I hate waiting for parts... :BangHead:
I was also able to find and purchase the needed 3 prong "Ram" Early 46RE speed sending unit for the 98 harness I'm using.

One Bummer is I have to return the thermostat housing, turns out that the LS motors take some weird thermostat and the sealing surface of it is an odd size. The housing cut out for it make it really thin and won't work well enough with the dodge thermo and/or if I modify the flange to match the manifold bolt patterned I couldn't get a good seal with the LS thermo....
So I'm returning it to summit and they're sending me a swivel 90* for an LA manifold that they assure me will fit my setup... We'll see CVR Thermostat Housings TSH8BK

So had a box waiting for me when I got home last night. Summit Got me out the Aeromotive regulator and various fittings I ordered but no Thermostat housing!?! After a quick call to customer service I was notified that the thermostat housing I need is on back order at least a month...ugh
Also The Earl's Fuel line kit with fittings I ordered from CPP Who just happens to be in the same business park that I am currently sitting will not be shipping out my kit for at least a week from now... And cause of the stupid covid 19 **** I can't walk to there shop on my lunch break and pick the damn thing up.... uggh :BangHead:

Oh my...
This weekend was a doosy. I'll be 100% honest when I say I never thought or accounted for the issue I had this weekend. But as Duane Mayer told me while working at American hot rod "Modified cars need modifying" well Duh... on me..
So I got all the parts in I was waiting for except i forgot to order the efi style fuel filter.. Which I just now ordered because I forgot!
So Saturday night I feeling good and happy prep the tank for install, built the wiring pigtail had it installed, installed the fuel fittings and hose lines. Even opened a thread in the fuel system forum asking about the breather line and if I should run 1 or all three.. lol got that sorted and was ready to install the tank.. wohoo!
Sunday in a good mood laying on my back ready to install this beautiful tank next to this beautiful IRS rear end... Big Smiles

NOTHING FIT....! :BangHead:

:poke: I never not once took into account the size of the diff housing how much larger it was to the 8 1/4 I pulled out. Or the fact that the inboard brakes were "in board" ha Dummy.. Oh and what about those monster coil overs holding that damn rearend off the ground.....!

Nope never once thought  Hey I should check this.... This is about the time Duane would be throwing the paper towel roll at me... :soapbox:

So I had to do some modification to stuff... Thankfully I was able to do it with out modding the rearend
All I needed was 1.25" to fit... I got 4.25" give me with flex little more that 2 full inches....

As you can see I got it in but damn what and all day ordeal. I ended up having to remove the lower Arm center pins to get the tank up and In. By the time I was done and had everything together I was done mentally. I closed up the garage and called it a weekend. BUT the job is done and I'm proud of how I adapted and over came the issue, and I think I did a bang up job... Duane would still be my friend at least till I text him my pics... lol

Hello, it's been a while since I did an update and that's been cause I've been super busy at work and at home. Even know we're all dealing with this stupid house arrest **** my production and sales are up 61% over last year this time and up 41% in just a the last 3 months so needless to say if I had hair I'm pretty sure I would have pulled it all out by now. I was supposed to take the family to Europe this summer but that was Kanked so we did a staycation and few my mom out to hang with us and had a great time...
During all this I continued working on the small bits of the car installed a ton of Boom Mat still have a half ton more to install till its finished.
I made the "Mistake" of telling my wife I had made a decision, and planed on not painting the car. "I wanted to go with the patina look"
So after a few weeks of brow beating and verbal assaults from her "we" have made the decision to have the car shipped off to body n paint
SO that mean I now have to take the car back apart AGAIN....
So I enlisted the help of my 10yr old car encyclopedia, Kid know a lot about the cars now, he know how to turn a screw and spin a bolt. :D
best part was he had a good time and is looking forward to helping more in the future. We pulled the motor together, the trans and all the trim work inside and out.

Stock wheel house Cobra wheels (year and size ? ) tires 275/40x17 photos please .
Spring relocation ?

View of gas cap looking down the side ,please .

Inquiring minds want to see ... :)

Lol, yes stock wheel house...
2004 Terminater Cobra 17x 9" w/ 275/40r17 MT
These were just used as a test fit.....!

Spring location? You may want to scroll back a few pages and check out this build...

I'll be running the GT 17x 8 wheels with the 275/40r17 MT cause I like the bulge side wall look on these wheels has more of a meaty look but still a low pro feel..

think you'll need to do anything to the front fenders to get those to fit?

just flicked though this again and a thought occurred to me. had you considered a removeable access panel in the floor above the rear calipers. it was a common mod' in the uk to make changing rear brake pads a breeze (stock you had to drop the whole axle out just to change the pads :realcrazy:). at this stage it'd be easy to do.
neil.

On the front I running 245/45/17 tires and a 1/2" spacer which put the wheel just about perfect with zero rub.

I don't have much in the way, just an upright bar and its pretty easy to remove.
