1972 Dodge Colt

-
Are you gonna tell us what it ran or is that a secret? lol

Jerry, gotcha.
That second is real close to the first isn't it!
And on the red stripe the 3rd and 4th are close.
I wonder what the thought process was on those ratios.

I need you back out here racing Jerry!

I agree with PRH, the 3.09 gearing is going to help the initial hit more than the the gear spread between first and second is going to hurt the acceleration of the car.

I agree with you guys.
I have been emailing Dan Brewer on a gear set so I might go ahead and do the deed.
I want to drop this 2.66 box in just to see if I am going in the right direction before I send the $$$.

Awesome day!
600 mile round trip, but worth every minute of it!
Donald is very much like his Father and treated us so well.
We started the Colt on Don Hardy Motorway and 5th street downtown Floydada.
Then parked in front of the Race Shop where my Colt was fabricated some 50 years ago.
We tried to recreate the same photo of Don Hardy in front of the shop with my Colt.
Donald Hardy and I stood behind the Colt in much the same spot.
Donald then showed us much of what they do and some of his car collection.
Only downer was Mr. Hardy was not with us to enjoy the moment.

Very cool stuff, Stan! Thanks for sharing!

Ok, so I was soup sandwich on the trans gears.
Pulled the box in the Colt, it's not the 2.47 like I "Miss-Remembered"!
It's a 2.66.

SO I am going to purchase the 3.09 gear set, build another transmission and T&T.
Getting old sucks.

Good news is I had the trans out in about 2 hours, not bad for me.
I realized today that someone has installed a rear crossmember driveshaft after Mr. Hardy built the frame.
I guess they needed another loop closer to U-Joint.
Lenco would have ended back further.
If that member wasn't there I could have been faster.
I have to pick the trans up and go out through the door.
A challenge for me and not buggering up something.

Bushed aluminum front case and a Faceplated Liberty 3.09 gear set on the way.

was the Arrow a recent addition to his collection?
No, the Pinto was.
After Mr. Hardy died a lot of the cars went to other homes.
Donald is slowly getting the ones he really wanted back.

I have a picture posted of Mr. Hardy and I standing next to the Arrow from a couple of years ago.
That pinto has a shorter wheelbase than my Colt.

It's a challenge for me to not booger up something just getting outta bed. Don't feel bad.

Everything to put trans together is here, except the case.
Oh well, work around the house for a few days and get ahead of the honey dews!

I did get my 198 rods pressed off the old pistons and cleaned.
Heavy rods, 810 grams.
A 225 rod is 760 grams.

Considering the extra length, that's not real terrible.
