63 Dodge Dart, now let me see;)

-
Loaded the tub/body, ready for blasting. After the cold spell I can get this over to em. Blaster is less than a mile from our home.
Spoke with Glen for a while today, regarding A 833s and other things, now I'm having second thoughts and just going with the 904 that I have, and a nice factory console on the floor would look nice. There's one on Ebay~
not shown, but there's a bunch more parts on the trailer to be blasted

Here I have my 318 running (it is a used engine, 150psi on each cylinder, oil pressure 50-60) on my engine run stand, runs good, a few days later I installed the valve covers having had to wait for gaskets. I ran it hard, did good. I do need to install a rear main seal, this is a time I was thinking to put another cam~ spoke with Glen and he gave me some ideas. All ideas are welcome. Tired today, going to kick back for a little bit.

Change of plans~ traded the 318/904 for the slant 6 out of a '75 Duster. The slant sounds intriguing and I'd like to make it look nice;) The fella took it out of his duster, drove 6 hours and we swapped. Really nice guy;)

Had some scrap steel and made a little cart to move it around.

Hi, a little update is always nice;) I got the body/tub in primer with a couple coats of high build, then pulled out the rest of the body bolt ons, re-epoxied the support for the decklid. Also bought a slant 6 engine lift plate off of ebay~ excited to make some progress! ;)

Well that was quick, did you order it right after we talked ?

Looks good and now for the rest of the repairs… you go girl !

Thanks Glen, actually I just ordered it a couple days ago off of an ebay seller, total price like a 150 bucks;) omg, there's a lot to do~

My little story on the lower control arm bushings, pretty much speaks for itself;)

For me, I was lucky the bushings were all but gone, I didn't know it months ago.

Well its been quite awhile since your last post , and yes I know you’ve been busy on that other non car project .

As for torsion bars I used the Formula S from the Barracuda, they are just right for the Dart for a good ride and handling.

You're doin some fine work here, Dne. What's this about a cart for "scrap metal". C'mon man! lol

Get this though. We got a cat from a local lady about 5 years ago. Kitty's siamese had died and she wanted another one. I found her one in Byron, Georgia, about 30 miles south of us. The lady's name that had her? D'ne. lol Now I have her on facebook so she can get updates on Sarah's latest antics. lol

Hi, I'm still here, just had the grandkids for the past two weeks (11 & 16) sibling rivalry. Hard to compete with iphones and the 16y/o has a boyfriend. Kids just don't like to do anything. They're at a camp not far from us for two weeks, then we get them back for a few more days:( Their parents are in Hawaii.

Yesterday I did move the dart into an area where I can get on the body~ fixing to go out there and pull a few dents, spread some body filler;)

As for torsion bars~ halfafish(Zach) fixed me up, he's checking into his stuff to see if he can supply me with manual transmission things, I already have a bell housing, brake/clutch assembly.
I'll be back in a little bit with some todays pics;)

Today is our 20th anniversary, so not much going on in the garage;)

Bought a used Hutchins Hustler for the job;) These things run so smooth!

started feeling guilty, my husbands in the house, so I really need to spend time with him on this day. However, got a little bit done.
The inner front fender, I'm so pleased that my sandblasters were able to remove all the nasty stuff. I'm going with a gray color under carriage color which is already in place in that pic. ok, now to get cleaned up;)

Looking fantastic!!! Happy Anniversary! Go have a nice evening and keep posting those pics!

Had a great day! ok, question, since I'd really like a 2 barrel intake, manual transmission~ this 1980 Volare in the link below is a 3 speed manual. Would that transmission fit in my dart? I did a tiny bit of looking at the transmission and looks to be different in the mounting. If so, might be best just to buy an entire car with everything that I want. Just have to know if it will fit. I still can't tell by the pics if its indeed a 2 barrel. Just playin the game;)

Having just a lot of fun working in this darned heat!
:(
However, making a tad of progress
:D

I found these seats for 100 bucks, saw no harm in seeing how they look. I would try my hand at re-upholstering unless I can find the upholstery online. supposedly out of an '86 Volkwagen ,but I don't know what kind of vw. In this pic, the seats are just supported by blocks and too low. I'll be using early Miata seat tracks, then make the supports. IT's such a weird floor pan to deal with:(

Then little spots like this

obviously I put the doors on to work on them. I'm not done with the back quarter panels, but it's kind of taking the shape of a car!
;)

darn, it's time to make dinner already!!

Sweet! Looks like an '81-up hydraulic lifter slant 6?! I used to have one of those and here are a few tips: No one makes these valve covers (different shape/ bolt pattern), so be sure to not overtorque them. When getting valve cover gaskets and spark plugs (no spark plug tubes!) tell the store it's a 1983 Dodge D150. I was told you could bolt on a pre-72 (?!) head and still use the hydraulic lifters/ rockers. The only advantage would be to make it look period correct and you could get new valve covers for it.

Had a little time, went ahead and made a spot in my AC'd area, much better!. I know the engine has been into, the pistons are .30 over, I guess that's what's on top of the piston, the pistons are shiny looking from the crankcase side. Timing chain and gears look beefy. Oh, and it has solid lifters;)

Just getting it apart~ will eventually go to the machine shop, working on how much to remove from the head/block mating surfaces, Halfsfish is going to direct me how to accomplish that~ aren't you Halfsfish;)

Hi, getting ready for the hurricane
:(
going to be really close to us, hopefully it will just fizzle out.

I got my super six intake and other parts last evening~ if I it had been closer, would have bought the entire engine.

All looks good, no cracks, yes a little shabby looking, but it'll clean up. Not sure If I'll be going with this carburetor, but I can put a kit in it, make it pretty and see how it goes, but that's a long ways off. I'm just happy to have the thing

I'll eventually have the flywheel machined? now I have two bell housings! lol I still have a bunch of stuff to have blasted, and I'll have the bell housings done then. Though I did get the throwout arm, I'll be going with a hydraulic clutch.

Ok, Got to go out and prepare for the hurricane~
