Instead of beam me up Scotty, beam up the correct yoke Anders needs then transship it to him. If only!

Well, I should have known. :)

How much for it?

You know, I still have the shipping number for that massively delayed shipment. You ought to be able to get a refund and ship the yoke for free.

The tracking number was 86482765932SE and when I called about the delay, they opened an issue (ett ärende) and that issue has a number too: Ärendenummer 101941542. I was told that you do the refund claim on the postnord site somewhere.

I think the best way to go about it is that you file the complaint since you were the one paying for the shipment. Don't you think?

I got a reply on my ad in the Mopar FB group. It's a chromed yoke and the guy's asking SEK 700 for it, roughly $80.

The thing is, it has a different size U-joint. I don't know these things, but he says his yoke has 1350 joints. I measured my joint and the diameter is 27.38 mm which according to another guy chipping in is a 7260 size joint.

There are apparently adapter joints to be found but I see from the picture that the clips are different, they seem to be mounted on the outside of the cap rather than on the inside which is the case on my joint.

I don't really doubt these guys, I just want to confirm that they're correct and also, Ulf, ask you what size joint is on your yoke.

Yes to verify, theres adaptor u joints. In the states we call them bastard u joints because of the 2 sizes they are made to fit. Dont flip on the name, nothing wrong with them at all. They fill the need perfectly. Most driveline shops in the states either have these in stock or can easily order them. They are that common.

Not sure if they do or not. I do know A904 yokes are the same spline as A833 OD 4 speeds, and A727 yokes are same spline as A833 HD and reg duty 4 speeds

Thats about it. Though i got a really wierd driveshaft yoke leftover from the old slanty from my cuda. It only fit the wierd factory junky 3 speed that was in the car, but ironically it fits nothing else. May offer it up on fabo, or just pitch it into the scrap metal pile i been collecting.

It's been a sad few weeks progress wise. Been feeling crappy, it's been dark and cold and wet and I can load up a ton of other excuses. Bottom line, I haven't felt motivated.

All I need to do is fill up the radiator and rig a jug of gasoline and start the engine up. Still, I haven't been able to pull myself together.

Part of me is worried I'll be CO-poisoned so I've been thinking maybe I should rig an exhaust duct to the garage window. Like I said, an excuse.

I think I'm just nervous ...

Just do it man!!!! Your soooo close. Ya got v to hear how it soundd. Rig that exhaust duct, fill it with antifreeze and light the fires.

Thanks guys.

Felt supremely motivated today so I finished my exhaust evacuation setup. Pretty pleased with myself. The vent in the back corner of my basement garage is perfectly placed for the job.
Saved myself a trip to the gas station, too. :D

Install a true Roadkill gas tank and started cranking. Can't get the fuel pump to work properly, though. It won't fill the carb and it looks like it's just pumping the fuel back and forth.
What could be the problem? Did I connect it backwards? The rear connector goes to the tank and the front one goes to the filter and on to the carb.

Help?

From the last picture it looks like a plug in the port that goes to the carburetor. Where are you routing the other hose that's beside the plugged port - to the carburetor? Could that be a return line to the tank?

The picture is misleading. The non-connected hose is the "real" fuel line that goes back to the fuel tank. The fitting that's partially hidden behind the fan belt is a tube fitting. I've clamped a hose over the end of the tube and run it to the carb.

Right now, though, I'm running a hose straight from the jug to the carb via the filter.

AND IT RUNS! :cheers::blob::D:glasses7:

Video coming shortly. I need help with trouble shooting.

Outstanding that it runs!!

Yes! Happy as a little kid!

The video is still uploading so it'll be a little while before I can show it.

I'm sure if it runs on all eight cylinders, it really doesn't sound well and doesn't idle at all. The timing is obviously way off and since I can't get it to idle, I can't use my timing light. Which is dodgy at best.

Had two carburetor fires but nothing serious. :D

While I'm waiting for my computer to finish saving the 3,5 minute clip of me trying to get my engine running, I thought I'd show you a little mini-project I had. Lowering my creeper (had to google it).

Before and after pictures. Had trouble fitting the M10 nut in the smaller wheels so I had to "turn" them down using my trusty power drill and a coarse Sandvik file. Turned out ok and gave me roughly 35 mm extra nose and glasses space under my car.

Well, here's a (pretty long) clip of me trying to get her running. Maybe someone knows from the way she sounds as she's dying what I should be doing to get her to idle?

Is it electronic ignition - have you checked the reluctor gap with a brass feeler gauge - not steel. Or still points and again checked the points gap? Idle circuit in the carb? Plug wires in the proper firing order? Have you determined true top dead center and then checked where the timing mark is on the balancer? it might be too retarded. Did you replace the timing chain? If not could it have jumped a tooth or 3. It sounds like a timing problem. Just throwing out possibilities here.

I would verify the ignition order, and to check where the rotor is pointing at with the #1 cylinder in TDC at the compression stroke (at this point also check the timing mark on the balancer). Then back the dist just a little bit.

It's great to hear it fire up! Now that you know it will, it's time to double check everything to find the gremlins. Cool video. Once you've eliminated the easy to check stuff like firing order and reluctor/points/spark plug gaps I've got a sneaking suspicion it'll come down to carburetion.

I'm going to hook up the fuel pump first of all (after double-checking the firing order). Then I'll try to get my timing light to fire properly. Only had the one blink up to now. Need to get it to idle first. Difficult to do everything at once on my own.

I checked the timing mark on the balancer vs TDC a while back so that should be pretty close to correct.

I have electronic ignition and I've also got a 400V capacitive ignition box my dad made in the seventies I'm going to try in a while. Should make it fire up a little better.

I need to get the PCV running too. It's smoking a little from the breather holes.

Going down there now. Just going to brush my teeth first. :D

Anders! Have you checked the vacuum hoses to the carb? Also check if the plug wires are connected well to the spark plugs.

But the first start is magnific. Good luck with it. I will search the yoke for you this afternoon. I'll keep you posted.
