The good thing is its been gone through and you know itd been redone correctly. You had to unF@@K a fair amount of stuff to get it that way. Kudos to you, and thank God for Fabo, its great members, and the internet lol

Phew, just read about half of this thread. Nice job!
Are you going to the Gasoline swap meet later this month?

Thanks! I keep finding out about meets after they occur. I need to get with the program.

When and where is this meet? I'd love to go!

Yes! I was too tired to go down and route brake lines last night and today is VAB. Maybe I'll be able to squeeze in a little work but I doubt it.

Vård Av Barn. Care For Child. Staying home from work to care for a sick child, something we all (those of us that have a salary that generates tax revenue) get economically compensated for here in Sweden. Since I'm already on health insurance, I won't be applying for that, though.

The nearest swap meet out by me is in Dallas Fort Worth, in the parking lot area of the Texas Motor Speedway. Its about 3 hours drive down the highway from where i live. Man its huuuuge. I went and walked it and only saw maybe 1/3 of what was there. Next time i need to use my bicycle, and pull a small wagon behind it.

I did snag 2 sets of hurst A body 4 speed shifter linkages. The guy selling them didnt know what he had, i offered him $10, and he took it. I kept one set for myself, sold the other set here on fabo. I had to lengthen the 3/4 rod to use with the OD box, no biggie. Not too much mopar stuff though, mostly late model brand X.

We are starting to have local swap meets in my town, but they are kinda lame, i have some mopar stuff, i probably should bring my stuff to one of these and see if i can sell it.

The other day I finally decided to buy a rectifier bridge to try electrolysis rust removal. It showed up in the mail today. 125 A /1200 V should do it ...

I got some Sodium Carbonate (washing soda) and made a rough setup to try it, using a bumper as heat sink for the rectifier. It's bubbling nicely and since I'm outside I don't fear the vapors. I think some of my sacrificial anode might have been chrome coated and the one I'm using now is galvanized so there might have been some pretty nasty crap coming out. The tank sure looks awful by now, a little over four hours in.

Thanks!

Yes, they're almost all of them way up north.

Haha I'm always amazed when people say that something is far up north :p Stockholm is the southest you can get in my world, apparently people live below that.. :)
For the electrolysis, have you tried natriumkarbonat instead? Also how long does it take you to strip a part clean?

(rust removal via chemical means)
I have been using a feed grade molasses and water mixture. Make a soak tank and drop the parts in for about a week, rinse with trisodium phosphate and water, and let air dry, then paint. Some stuff like stamped steel it works great. Body bolts like sems screws and nuts it tends to eat up. I soaked some of mine and ruined them. Had to go to the junkyard for more. Must be a different steel content or something. This stuff stinks pretty bad though. My soak tank is behind my shop. Feed molasses by the gallon at a local farm supply store is about $10

Oh yeah, I forgot, you live up there. I suppose most meets are way down south by your standards, Dalarna, Västerås, Mantorp ... I'd love to live further north. My father is from Arjeplog and we spent a lot of time up there in the summers when I was a kid. A few winter weeks too, but mostly summers.

And it IS natriumkarbonat! My setup is pretty poor, I'm not getting a lot of current. There are lots of points with excess resistance and my sacrificial anode isn't large enough. I'll be getting some proper crimp wire terminals and put the rig together properly one of these days. Also, I didn't brush or de-grease the control arms so the efficiency was pretty lousy to begin with.

I'll tell more about my results when I get this done properly.

I've tried to find molasses but failed so far. I'm still looking, though.

From what I could find online, they don't keep it in stock. I did ask the local pet store (horse and dog) but haven't heard back. I pass it every day and one of these days I'll stop by and ask in person.

Our farm supply store (tractor supply co.) Keeps it in stock. Hunters use it as well out here to bait for deer, and to bait hog traps. We have a bad wild hog problem. A group of em will destroy a crop field in one evening. Farmers now pay these guys "nuces helicopter rentals" to fly over their fields and spook the hogs into running, and they shoot them with AR15s from the helicopters. I built a bunch of hog traps for a guy once. They look like giant lobster traps lol.

Yikes! Hunting from helicopter or snowmobile is completely banned in Sweden.

We also have a growing wild boar here. They do great damage to all sorts of farmland as well as gardens and parks, mainly in the southern parts.

You pull any parts out of the soup yet? Wondering how it worked. Sure looked like a lot of rust in the foam,

I interrupted my trial run the same evening, I didn't want to leave it running over night. Haven't started it up again, it's a hassle to set it up with the jumper cables and the crappy wiring. I wanted to set it up properly first.

In fact, I just came back from a short trip to our auto parts store looking for crimp terminals. No luck, though. They ones they had were much too big. I'll be ordering some online now.

Some did come off, though:
