66 Dart Owners thread

-
huh whut did I do now? dang I ain't even home an can get into trouble.

I'm trying to get a guy I met at a car show in KY (while on the way to Michigan this month) to modify some of the later model clips to work with the 66 dart and 65 Plymouth satellite moldings (yeah they are the same) if he comes through I'll get a couple hundred made up and go from there. evidently there are some clips that are close and he "supposed" to be able to modify them to work on the 66 darts and 65 satellites. But he wouldnt tell me what type of clip he used !@@$!@$ it isn't the width or mountin that's the problem he said but the height to make sure it clips on good.

Thanks for the news! I searched and found your thread about those clips and posted the info. It would be great to find something that would work. Please keep us posted. tmm

Getting Closer!

Ok. While dressing pout the engine, I found out I have two radiators, both for 273 engines? So, I'm tired of digging stuff up, does anyone know what radiator I need for a 318 that is a direct fit for the 66 dart??? Running a five blade clutch fan. Thanks.Getting there slow but sure

Just take your stock radiator and have the outlet on the radiator moved to accommodate the water pump on the newer motors. That's what I did.

You know, I actually thought about that but was afraid that the trans cooling fittings would be in the way?? Here is the one I'd like to use.

We have the dart ready for paint, I can't seem to find all the hardware for the door latches. 66 dart sedan. I would guess all early a's are the same. Could someone please post up a picture of what goes on the door and what goes one the opposite side of the door latch.

Here is a picture of the engine bay painted.

Thanks in advance.

NICE! What's your combo and what does it run? tmm

I run a 10.26 at 131mph. thats with a plate under the carb to slow it down. I dont want to get in the 9's. I really believe that It would easily run 9.90's. I am only running 80% of the air flow. On the dyno with the plate removed it made 720hp at 7100rpm and 600 ft from 4000 to 7000. So its there i just dont want to push it. I race in the NHRA heritage series in the Hot rod class and i can just put a number on the window. I run a 727, 408 with cnc indy 360-1 heads, custom crower cam. When I pulled out the engine to freshen it up I did a step by step post in the engine section. I could try and find it? But I don't know how to re post a link here. Hope this works

Looks good. You'll have fun with your 66. tmm

Another little project I have been working on is a gauge set mounted to the steering column of the Dart. Spent today fitting everything. I replaced the bulb lighting in the gauges with LED's.

I also repaired all the cracks in the steering wheel and repainted it a white to match the interior.
