Birth of the Blue Missile

Denny,
ALL issues have been resolved, lots of clearance!
I also got your Email about the extra hoop for the upper shock mount.
I went a little different direction. 1/8" plate bent to clear the shock coil, welded in place. This transfers part of he load to the other face of the frame, its still easy to get to the nuts for the upper adjusters.

I now have the upper bump stops & brackets installed and have cut air passages for the oil and tranny coolers. The oil cooler is on the left and the tranny cooler is on the right. The only thing left to locate in the way of coolers, is the power steering cooler and that will have to wait until the engine is in. More later the weekend is young.

Andrew, I would test fit the grille to make sure it clears ...I used a B&M cooler and had to move toward the center to clear the grill. of course that was a flat 71' grille not the pointed 73' which might give you a little more room.

Ross,
one of the side benefits of getting rid of the stock turn signal enclosures is all the room you gain.

Thanks guys,
first pic is the best shot I have of the paint for the car. The rest of the shots are of Denny's superb engineering, hopefully in for the last time.

Andrew, it is looking good. Can't wait to see that monster motor.

I was wondering did you do the LED lights for the taillights as well?

Also what did you do with the grill where the turn signal light holders went?
perhaps I missed a few post but I do not remember seeing what you did.

Tim,
good to hear from you.
For the front turn signals I dissected one amber and one blue LED strip for each side and then re cast them in between the plastic horizontal pieces I transplanted into the grill to take the place of the old enclosure. Everything is selectable from the cockpit.
For the rear I put blue leds in the backup enclosure for running lights.

The brake duct worked out well. Should help in the hills of Nevada.

I hope you are going to put a grill or something to keep rain and dirt off the back of the rotor there. Apararently, some of the 91-96 police caprices had something similar for their front air dams. It chewed the hell out of the rotors in front. So some people are making mods to theirs to keep the enhanced cooling it brought as well as blocking off most of the water and/or dirt from hitting the back. If you saw it, you'd know what I'm talking about.

Hillary's job is a dream for bill, she's always out of town.
In the mean time I got the power steering cooler yesterday here is where it goes. in pic #2 you can see the relationship to the front air dam and port.

Wow......lot's of catching up! You've made considerable progress since my last stop in here! Mind-blowing....
Keep it up. You have a really unique vision and will have a one-of-a-kind street rod when it's all done!:prayer:

Thanks Captain,
the latest news is I found someone to build the motor! He's in New Braunfels. He normally builds Indy engines, but after talking today he is excited about the project. We have some details to work out but this will be an over the top tech build. A R3 based 440 11:1, 600Hp/550 ftlbs build. I will be using the new Milidon road race pan (Thanks Ross) and it will be fuel injected.
in the meantime, I am starting to get parts in to plumb the engine bay. Dual remote filters #1-45micron permanent filter & #2- 10micron permanent filter. The Wix are there for break in and fabrication. The other pic is the washer reservoir where the battery used to be.

The hydroboost brakes system arrived last night and was installed today. Its off of a 2006 dodge pickup. All the connections for the system at the rack and the pump and the booster will be converted to AN, I ordered a 37* flaring kit. In the mean time this really is the start of six pounds of stuff in a four pound box.

Blue,

I've been waiting for someone to do a hydro-boost system on these cars. The stock boost can is just so ungodly large/in the way and f-ughly I'm glad you are doing this and will be following it closely.

Thanks for sharing all the great things you are doing to the Missile with all of us.

Joe Mc

For the record I get all my used parts from Snyder's in Holland (Texas that is) 800-460-8025 and I always deal with Johnny at ex #117. The hydroboost unit was $100 shipped and the pump was $75 shipped. They ship all over the country.
Ill get the unit primed and painted today Ill post later.
Andrew

Now its pretty AND set up for 6AN lines.
OH by the way, the engine build has now morphed into a 454 small bock. Still working out the details with the machinist.
