Birth of the Blue Missile

-
Here is the latest from the WWW (wonderful world of wiring). The front lighting/safety relay module is done. It handles the change from DOT to all blue lighting, and the automatic pre-oiling interlocks as well as the Fire system shut downs of all of the motor functions.
in order: first the machining then the connections to the relays then the finished connection to the Molex connectors.

Andrew,

I'm that at some point in everyone's life (so this includes everyone reading this and myself) folks have told you "you're wrong" as well as "you're right", of course this (you're right) isn't as common as you're wrong. Now, what's even more rare and truley reserved for the true artist is the even more rare "You ain't right dude!". So, with this in mind - Andrew, you ain't right dude! Friggin awesome build!

Thanks Joe,
in the mean time I made and installed the front signal/running light harness, as well as the main grounding block.

I got the multi-pin connector for the power feeds populated today and I got the harness to the headlights built and installed.

I got the trunk wiring harness from the relay box to all the lights done.
Next I have to pull wires from the front firewall to the trunk box including all the Ground runs and the positive from the battery to the panel.

More wiring complete in the trunk, including the battery cable to the fuse block. The pile keeps getting smaller.

Progress has been painfully slow, got most of the sound deadner down in the interior. I also got started on the radio wiring.

looks like now thinks get to stay put.....your roll bar must be a bolt-in?

Denny, only the cross tube and its down bars bolt in, all the rest is welded to the frame.

For the past few days Ive been working on the WWW. I discovered that I had neglected to reserve a pathway for the turn signal feeds to the engine compartment. I also forgot the return path for the signals to the side mirrors. Fixing this necessitated the removal of the fuse block and its harness so I could add wires to the circular connectors. If you are thinking about going this route my advice to you is completly populate the connector and store the spares out of the way. No way to work on the connectors in place.
This pics are of the second Cir connector and harness. This one is for all the gauge/sensor feeds and low amp control wires.

I got things cleaned up a bit, I also ran a control circuit for the fuel pump needed for the safety interlocks and will have to redirect a wire for the brake light switch at the proportioning valve.
All in all I have 34 conductors going into the engine compartment, not counting the main ground and the positive batt wire to the trunk.
I'm all out of spares anything else will require another connector.

I got as far as I can with the wiring in the engine compartment, its at about 90% complete. Now I need the stuff to connect to, ie ignition box starter relay etc. But all the main boxes are built and in place.

Im still in the wonderful world of wiring, but have made it into the cabin where it all has to come together. This rats nest is that point. I am looking forward to seeing this thing all lit up at night.
Next will be the AC unit.

More WWW
I had to pull another four conductors into the trunk, finish the batt box, and set up the fuses for the fuel pump and the compressors. My back feels like a pretzel.

Sorry if all this WWW is boring, but considering I originally thought all the electrical stuff would take the better part of a year to fab, its going along well.
I believe this is the final built from scratch module. It interfaces the sound system and the PTT functions with the helmet intercom and 10 or 11 meter (CB) radio.
The helmet intercom has a VOX switch for the mic so that it acts like your cell phone, when you talk it transmits otherwise its receiving. But the two way radio uses a manual switch for that function. Hence the "Push To Talk" function at the steering wheel. I also use that function to mute the tunes while talking. The module also converts the center dash speaker from being used by the CD player to be used by the two way radio whenever that radio is powered up. The final thing I needed to accomplish was to transfer the vol/on-off knobs and the headset input jacks from the tiny circuit board to the front panel of the center console.
More later
