Talk to the doc he can fast track it at least that’s the way it is here.
Same here just thinking what I would want at her age.
She will go in a nursing home but if she refuses to stay there after a few weeks I'll have to come up with another plan.
Really makes me think Murray what to do with me and what my kids will do with me when I get to the point of to old to take care of myself.
I think I want to go out with my boots on.

Interesting

My wife worked at a nursing home and swore she would never treat her parents like that

(I hope I can speak freely, here...I'm not knocking youz guyss decisions, simply sharing mine)

I will say this, we were blessed to be able to care for both of them and I understand that is not always the case

And especially with her mom, the alzheimers made it tough at times, but looking back I'm glad we did things the way we did

Motherinlaw has been gone a year now. Spent nine months in an assisted living facility. They were wonderful to us.
My wife recently bumped into one of the care givers from there and she said most everyone has quit and cant get any help. Reason being that people refuse to work for the the inadequate pay that they offer.

Me as well. However what I see with my 89 year old father in law is loneliness. Wife passed 20 years ago kids moved out 30 years ago. Now he can’t drive lives 6 miles from us 5 miles from town. Stubborn old f... lives in that house by himself. We go there as much as we can but we have lives too. He talks about his friends who live in the “home” who's friends with who and such you can hear he’s envious of them
That won’t be me, you just have to admit that there will be a time when you have to hang the boots up.

My mom is going into a nursing home this weekend, Finally!
This is my Mom and oldest brother.View attachment 1715836755
That is great news Fred so now you know she is being well taken care of. Big load off your mind. There's no doubt she is your mom. She's either awful short or your brother is quite tall. (Must have been the mailman lol)

A blessing. My mom refused to go to a nursing home, but after a broken arm she went back to the doc complaining of sore chest. Doc X-ray her 3 cracked ribs. Doc said every time I send you home you come back with broken bones. So he put her in a home. Best thing for her and me. No more falling and lying about it. Had care round the clock, good food, clean room. Lived her days care free, friends around to talk to, she loved it but put up a fuss to go there oh man what an ordeal.
Sounds familiar Murray. WW3 almost broke out when we said you need to get a walker. She finally gave in and loved it after that. We all have to go through it. I told my kids to never put me in a nursing home just shoot me lol

Yeah mom got fast tracked but landed up in a nursing home in Toronto and full of Chinese so every TV or radio was Chinese. We got her out of there 11 days later. We found a lovely place very close to my sister.

Best to let them think it's their idea if you can or it'll be "It's all your fault" if something isn't right.

That's great and all but it can cause friction in the house.

I just hope I have enough sense to realize that I need to make changes in the way I live when the time comes. And that I’m not the only person effected by my decisions. Gerry Dueset summed it up “ this thing they call love it’s going to make you cry Love stinks”

Morning guys and "Happy Hump Day". Another decent day ahead kinda sorta. Tomorrow will be the best day. Small chance of rain but 14 degrees and sun.
Maybe I better not talk too loud lol.
Have a great day

My daughter is addiment that she will be looking after us, bless her heart.

That’s good if it works for you. But there’s no way I’m saddling my kids with that responsibility. I’ll be the old dog when it’s time I’ll go for a walk and go home.
Not move in with her but move to where she lives so she can be closer. We wouldn't do that to her lol

Mom is short and my brother is only half brother so thinking it was the mailman. lol

Wouldn't be the worst thing you ever did. You'd be close enough to them but still have your freedom in fart haven. So that wouldn't impede on either of you.
