Fred, what's your thoughts on this system? Although I've not painted a car in 20 years there had obviously been a whole lot of technology changes from my old Devilbiss suction cup gun. I have used cheap HVLP stuff for tractors and trailers but it looks like this will give me everything from primer to clear and sorta reasonable. No idea about the cups though!

Thank you sir!
The price is good and should be a good quality gun. My thoughts are that with a large tip like it comes with (1.8 and 2.0) you will be putting out a lot of material real fast. Fine for primer but for me is too much for paint. My gun for base and clear is a 1.3 tip and I like it. It's all in how you paint that matters slow across a panel or fast, that's how I look at it.
That size tip is fine for a complete, what I mean by that is painting the whole car all at once.
Doing one panel at a time a smaller tip I think is better.
Just my 2 cents Jeff.
I would be happy to let you use one of mine They are older but some of the best guns out there.
New about 4 years ago were $600 each Sata is the name check them out on line.
I have plenty of guns to do my car and have no problem letting you use one for as long as you like.
Save your money for other things.

And by the way Jeff are you striping all the paint off and starting on bare metal? Not thinking that you don't know just making sure you use a good etch primer or epoxy primer first.

i posted the incorrect link on the gun sir. This one, as you will see has multiple nozzles from 1.2 to 2.0. See link below. I will need to buy cups/bags/filters I believe.

Yes sir, I am going to bare metal on the exterior and spraying Nason 1:1 Epoxy Primer. Planning to spray that on the interior also with the bottom done in POR-15 after using their prep products.

My understanding on the exterior is to use 80 grit prior to epoxy.

Looks like the tips are disposable so no cleaning the gun with thinner. I would think the cups are disposable as well and shouldn't need bags. Nice Jeff looks good to me.
That works using 80 grit depends on the brand of epoxy primer.
And good to here you are using POR-15 as well as there prep. Most people just use there paint and end up with rust coming back through because they didn't fallow the directions close enough.
I don't know if you have used POR-15 before but I am sold on it. I painted a big sewer truck tank about 3 years ago and was really deep rust and I used the prep and did what they called for and it was a friend of mines truck so I see it lots. No other paint just POR-15. It faded but no rust even with sewage spilled on it.
I see POR-15 makes a paint for cement that is suppose to be real good stuff and was going to try it on my garage floor.

Yessir, tips are disposable, but cleanable also. I've viewed some videos from pros on the gun and they seem to speak highly of it. I just want a better quality gun to have in case my brother wants to use it too. Using Nason 491-16 and 483-19 epoxy primer. I will shut up til I get you some pictures to laugh at my rookie butt.

It would seem silly to not follow the correct prep for the PoR! I have always herd that poor prep is the cause of most paint job failures.

Thank you, Have a GREAT day and I'll yell at ya later!

That is a very interesting analogy that I had already thought of for different reasons. I just hate to stop and re-load!

I see they have 6, 16 and 32 ouncers. Bigger the better.

Just like bra cups huh! I'm not sure if these take liners, I think so. That would be ideal to reduce clean up!

Just found the same spray gun kit for $50.00 cheaper on Amazon.

Holy chit Mabel!

Never used liners Jeff so not sure. I use the sata cups and just throw the cup lid and strainer away when done. 32 ounce is what I use.
Any bigger than that makes it hard to hang on to. lol You can reload any of the different sizes in the middle of painting if needed.

That's good but check out what new tips and cups cost. kinda like a vacuum cleaner you by the cheaper one and the bags are way more than the dam vacuum.

Hey guys posted this on the Mopar general discussion board. Looks like something I would have done back in the 70's

I'm sure it was done way back in the 70's when people like me had know idea that was a no no.
At least it was a 4 door and not a precious 2 dr. Surprising what some people can do with a sledge hammer and a cutting torch. I bet he was proud to say "I built this myself".

Been there done that Mark. Sorry guys but we all did some pretty shady stuff back then I think.
If we only knew then what we know now every old car or parts would have been saved. But if we all saved parts and didn't beat and tear cars up back then, well at least my found memories would be gone and taking our car to a car show would not be the same today. That's the way I see it anyway.

Back then I could only beat up bowties.

Mopar motors were to expensive to build and 350 chevy stuff was dime a dozen!

Just like going to a good restaurant you pay for a great meal and waiter but for 5 bucks Mc Donald's will make you a gut bomb in any town or country, and no wine!

I was a youg and poor military kid that could get 350 p arts anywhere, and nearly free!

Couldn't help myself!

i am not Catholic but I will ask forgiveness and say 3 Hail Marys!
