Thanks Tony and congrats on getting us to page 5.

How about some before I tear the rear out pics....some rust issues in the frame rails to deal with....but not to rotten.

Yea...at least on three sides.

I have the floor pans for all four wells.

Time to get out the cutting wheel and take a deeper look.....look out fuel lines here I come..:toothy10:

If you decide to go with the full pan PM me as I need 3 of those 4 pans, all except the driver's feet pan.

Nice car. GL with the project. Question though, why take her sweet running easy starting, economical /6 and put on the 4bbl? Would a 2bbl teen get better power and milage?

Update....

Tree house project got waaaayyyyy out of hand.

Zip line's
LED lights
Rock climbing tree trunks
Rope swings
Trapeze
Cooler
Second level
Combining play ground set
Net for jumping into
.................

I am out of Pam's car for now and into my kids danger.....can I make it more?

Yup, get a trampoline and put it under the rails, maybe where it can be hit from the 2nd level.

Air woofer I can tell you are a bit behind this build so here is an update.

Floor pans have been installed for months and I'm almost done with the undercarriage....just working in the back area this weekend and I'm done with underside.

The six was tired...very tired and it was time to do something cool.

Why put a 2bbl on when you can put 4...we beefed up the sixer and wanted to give it some WOW factor. An Aussie Speed manifold hanging in the wind with a nice holly 390 will do that....should have better power than a 2bbl based on the obvious....more air and more fuel. We did some major port work on the head and put a nice cam in as well....this build was thought out and it should still get pretty decent mpg and hopefully push the 200hp boundary.

I don't care about gas mileage....my other car gets 7-9 mpg.:D

Few more detail pics....repaired the upper transmission/floor cross member brace and got it touched up.

Did some detail work on the reverse light bezels that came back from my plating buddy. I am going with textured dark argent for the tail panel, grill and rev lights...and maybe the wheel inserts. I am building this as a mild custom stocker......if that is even a word.

Enjoy,

Scraping away my life.....finally got the underside clean. Must have been 50 lbs of undercoating under there. Turned out nice and now I can see where all the hidden problems are waiting.

Found more holes behind the seam sealer/soaker. So now I have to make more patches. Overall it looks pretty good for an old northern car.

I have some frame rail issues but it's not to terrible...need to cut and patch as well.

So here is the weekend in a few shots.

Enjoy.

Soooo all cleaned up ground down and treated with rust converter now I move on to the patching of the frame. Once it was all cleaned up it wasn't as bad as I thought. I made some heavy gauge patch pieces for the frame and got one side done...moved into the trunk and filled some more holes and I'm done on the passenger side.

I have some more holes in the trunk on the driver side and patching the frame rails on that side so a few more days...weeks to go.

Enjoy the progress....I am.

I sprayed the underside with the same acid etch and it really cleaned it up nice....all that surface rust that was left after grinding is gone. It looks like crap in the pics but its clean...all that orange turned black. I'm going to undercoat it anyway so it will look nice when its done.

A few more for the night.

So frame rails are done....looking good!

I was real happy with the way they turned out...very stout and they are not to bad looking either. There may have been a better way to go about this but this way worked and it cost very little to accomplish.

I have three small holes in the wheel well to deal with and we are ready for bondowork.

Yeah....:blob:

Enjoy.

Thanks so much...I have no direction just motivation.

It's not as hard as it seems....just very time consuming to get all the patches right.

And that's why body work is so expensive.....cause it takes time.

Enjoying your car restoration iam working on the same stuff now. I like that engine cart where did ya get her.

Thanks....I actually started working on it again last night....been a long hot summer and the temps are finally down to bearable.

I have to do the same cut/patch deal on the fenders...it's mostly contained to the engine bay side of them. I can tell someone had already done some repair to them. I found some small patches improperly installed and held with bondo instead of welds. So I got a blow torch out and heated up the bondo areas and stripped it all out so I can see what needs to be cut. Scrapped all the undercoating off the back side while I had the torch out as well.

I wish someone made new fenders....would save a lot of time and frustration.:violent1:. Nuff o that. I'm gonna cut out the patches tonight and make some new ones the right way. At least my way. :D

The guy I had build the slanty built that for me since he knew it would be sitting for a while. Nice guy at Moody's Hot Rod Shop in KCMO

So I decided to keep working on the front end and give the fenders a rest until I can find some old ones to cut up or a reasonably priced sheet metal brake. It's easier to keep moving forward if I just do one thing a day.

That and I finally got my 2" drop spindles and I am ready to build the assembly.

So here is some hand painted parts...POR15 Metal mask...looks like bare steel. I just bought a spray gun from Harbor Freight and I am going to attempt to spray the K frame using 2 part paint.

Wish me luck as I have never painted with anything other than a rattle can. I'm cleaning and priming the K frame tonight and if the weather holds out I will attempt to spray it tomorrow.

Enjoy my slow progress.

Looking good. You will get the hang of painting with a spray gun. Nice even movements and a bit of overlap will do wonders. Just don't swing it as that will make it uneven on the ends

So I keep missing my window of opportunity to paint. I have to do it outside so the weather has to cooperate. Temps have been good but to much wind.

Anyway I cant have excuses slow me down so I'm still doing one thing a day no matter how small.

Here is some of the latest. I restored the grill surrounds on the car. They were both broken in three places so I ground the cracks and breaks with a dremel tool then used plastic epoxy to fill the voids. Painted the backs black and the fronts in a dark textured argent....70's mopar trim paint. I have the egg-crate getting anodized black and the chrome surrounds out for plating.

Here is a look back on the work...it was truly not as hard as I thought it would be and I am very happy with the results.

Enjoy the pics.

One last pic of the grill. I will update them when they are completed and assembled.

Now here is another crappy job. I dont want to buy $100's worth of new bolts and nuts so I am cleaning, de-rusting and polishing every nut and bolt that I bagged. I have been doing an hour or two on this job every day for 2 weeks and I am almost done.

My goal is to finish everything that goes in or on the car now while I save some $$$. Hopefully I can have enough saved by spring to get it into paint. I still have a little bit of metal work to do this winter and I am saving that for Jan-March.

Were getting real close.

De-Con
I actually found it at Lowes.

Stuff is strong as anything and easy to sand and shape when it cures.
