Nice! The shoulder bar is what gets me on the roll cage. Really don’t want one if I don’t need it. I have to retain my backseat for the kiddos

I installed the shoulder bar at the required nhra heigth , but sloped it down more going to the floor. At my age it was still a pain in the a-- , so I installed a door bar kit on the drivers side , carry it in the trunk.
Bent the curve in an electricians pipe bender at work , fits rite up against the door panels.

I don’t plan to do much drag racing, mostly solo road race, auto cross with the occasional drag strip burst. I’ve got the SCCA rule book for this year and talked to a couple of the local tech guys, I think I’m gonna be just under the class that requires a cage. But I want to plan for it just Incase it eventually becomes a requirement. Worst case, the dart goes full race car and the Polara is the cruiser.

Yeah , I wanted to do some racing again when I traded for this car, but it took me so long to finish it , I got old .
Trying now to make it a little more streetable , and still make it run like it should.
Thot about trading it for a B body driver too.
-getting old sucks , but gotta enjoy it while it lasts .

Well it’s now tacked in. Spent most of the day fitting and refitting, making sure all the measurements lined up with what I took before cutting it off and what measurements I took of Kegan B’s 74 to verify.

Baby steps, hanging a door, by yourself, in a two post is a PITA

is it my eyes or does the b pillar go in making the door and quarter form a v there? or are they meant to be like that? i've seen a few pillarless cars where the b posts have gone in over time (or with side impact) but not sure if dart's are just like that. easy to push it out at this stage if not.
neil.

Uh I’m not sure where you’re talking? Could you circle it ?

the last pic looking along the body side. looking closer the top line by the window channel looks straight so the quarters must 'bulge' out slightly (it is a 'muscle' car after all) making me think the b post is in which it's not. my mistake :BangHead:

Ah I gotcha now. Yeah they flare out a bit. Kind of a coke bottle shape

Pretty disappointed in C2C rocker panels. Granted they were cheap and I expected some fitment and massaging to be needed but they weren’t even close to being correct. Angles all wrong. So after 7 hours of dicki by with it, I’m calling it quits and will straighten and smooth things out over the weekend

Por15 work started. Not finished doing this in baby steps cause the fumes get to me. Even with all 3 shop doors open, 40 mph wind gusts and - 42 inch shop fan.

Have about 3/8th maybe 7/16s clearance with my tubs, probably will roll the quarter lip plenty of room inside.

That POR is good stuff but I agree the fumes are rough. I spilled some on my pants and it stained my leg for awhile. Hahaha.

I had some drop on my forehead and my arm. Didn’t notice until hours later when I went to take a shower. By then dried on. Tried several things to get it off but Believe it or not, baby oil took it right off. Put some on a cotton ball, let it sit for about 5 minutes, it wipes por15 right off

Good idea on the baby oil. I just scrubbed mine off with the rough side of sponge. Not ideal.

Here is a idea from cheap seats, I too work almost always alone. Hanging doors by yourself sucks. I made a little adaptor for my tranny jack to hold the door then a extension on handle so I could operate tranny jack with my foot. It saved the day for me. Only down side is if I get heavy footed I have to regroup and lower the jack with my hands. Foot operated on up cycle only.

That’s not a bad idea at all! Thanks!

Had some special assistance today. Trying to test fit and come up with a plan for this front bumper and grille. Have some ideas, stay tuned

congratulations, nice job. the times with your son it will stay in your memory and hers forever.

Finally decided on the engine color. Built a make shift paint booth out of an old pop up canopy and some plastic, worked pretty well.

Had both helpers with me this time as I mocked up the hood. Figured no sense in trying to figure out the bumper/valence ideas with out it in place
