Red Headed Stepchild-75 Swinger LSX Swap

-
Got the rear end back, got it cleaned up and painted. A buddy helped swapped out the 3.73 gearset for the 3.55's. Got the axle bearings and seal installed and the moser 1350 yoke assembly. Then I got her back under the car with the clamp on style perches from speedway. Those however are going to take a little more massaging to get right. And it looks like there is a shot I can reuse the driveshaft I just had made and just put 1350 end on it and throw it back under the car and be good to go. So less downtime there. Should hopefully have the rear buttoned up in the next day or so and have it back on the ground with the right pinion angle and stuff so I can knw for sure what my center to center is and hopefully get the new ends on in a week or so, and have it fired back up this coming weekend.

Got my procar seat mounts in the mail, and marked up. Should be drilled and installed today. I wasnt satisfied with the home made mounts that I made and didnt want to waste anymore time/money on other junk so i went with what everyone has been using and suggested.

Awesome build. Great skills. Building it the way that makes you happy. Two thumbs up. The turbo builds are intriguing. Someday. I do have a couple of questions...maybe I missed it, (I’m pretty sure I looked at all 28 pages) but do you have subframe connectors and torque boxes installed? Do you think you’ll have any trouble getting power to the ground? It is a light, twin turbo car. You’ll probably have trouble no matter what you do. Lol. Again, sweet ride.

They aren't installed yet. I'll be mini tubbing, relocating the rear leafs, adding the subframe connectors, and the torque boxes this winter. Possibly a smaller, more manageable cage.

Closest thing i have to traction control are the 26x10x15 Hoosiers in the garage. But I'd like to comfortably fit a 275/285/295 back there and not have to worry.

That will definitely help. It surely enhances the look also. I’ve mini tubbed mine and narrowed the rear end. I have 295/50R15’s on there now. I think i can squeeze 325’s. My tubs ended up right at 14” wide.

I will just be doing a mini tub, not a full tub. Want to keep the backseat seeing as the kids will still be around for another decade or so.

Got the new procar brackets on the seats and actually got the final mount down to the floor. The 81431 and 81432 mounts definitely take some love to work right. Beefed up the support above and underneather with some 1/4 plate at every bolt hole.

Gonna try and get the water pump back on tonight. Oil and filter changed, then start on the shifter base.

For the correct bolts for the rear now. Didnt realise the new axles tubes were 3 1/4 until I tried fitting my 3 inch ones around it.

I got my more powerful fan setup installed and radiator back in the car. Filters back on the turbos.
Got the motor full of oil, trans is full of fluid and motor is full of coolant. Have to double check bellhousing and converter bolt torque, hook up another wire or two and she should be ready to fire up.

Got started on the mount for my shifter too and it actually attached to the center console now so I can get that extension I need to make it meet my dash cut out and fiberglass.

Should be setting it back on the ground in n the next day or so to check driveline angle again and the length of the driveshaft and whether or not it will work. Fingers crossed it will.

Coming along though. Got a full detail for it on standby for when she rolls back out with a nice cut, buff and polish in the works. By a much better detailer and better tools than myself.

Got her back on the ground last night and rolled it out of the garage for the first time in a while.

Going to set the oinion angle and measure drive shaft tonight and start templating my addition to the center console. The. It's off to the races with the fiberglass work which I absolutely hate.

I've signed up to show the car at the coastal Virginia auto show at the Virginia beach convention enter the 16th and 17th if anyone e is in the area and wants to come out and check it out.

New walk around video update coming soon.

Anyone know any good image hosting sites soni can start sharing pictures on here again?

You can upload them easily on this site. Or simply open them on your computer and copy and paste them into the reply window.
I was looking right past the upload photo button. I also didnt know about the drag and drop option. Thank you for sharing.

I got the driveshaft dropped off yesterday. So itll be ready to go on Friday for me to pickup and install.

I also ordered 2 turbo guards so I could ditch these filters I have now that I know they come apart and destroy turbos.

Gave the dart a wash be aus eits been sitting in the garage for a while getting dirty.

Then I started making my template for the rest of the center console after I got the main part of it hard mounted. Itll be fibeglassed and then wrapped in vinyl to match the dash with my wideband molded in and a access panel for my ecm and fuse/relay box underneath

Got the rest of the wiring taken car of, and I also pulled the console back and shaped everything up and laid the fiber glass for it. Should be all hardened up by the time I get home tonight so I can sand it smooth and test fit it to make sure everything clears. I will still have to make an access panel for the ecm and relay box, but the obd 2 port will be mount in there as well as ma uh be a set of speakers as well. Havent fully committed to the speaker idea yet since it still has just the stock am radio In it.

If so I'll be painting it black for now until I can get it over to the upholsterer to wrap it to match the dash. Hopefully some completed pics of the fiberglass work later on tonight.

Well we got the rear leafs perches welded in and the brackets for the hotchkis sway bat too. Only too me 4 years to finally install the rear sway bar
But hey it's in there.

Also got the center console mostly smoother out and in place. I have to make a new mount for the front to secure it to the floor then mount my sunk in box in the middle along with the wideband and the will be ready to wrap with vinyl. Have trunk or treat this weekend so I'm trying to get everything together and back on the road for that. I'll be dressing up as danny zuko in my third leather jacket and fake hair so i can be like Travolta.

Getting close!!!!

Jeff
Yessir, there is a vinyl and fabric shop close to work I'm going to try and hit tomorrow on my lunch break to get enough material to wrap it myself. If I can't get it done for trunk or treat this weekend then for the Convention Center Show, then 16th and 17th for sure. I cant wait for the dart to be indoors for that show all weekend.

Full buff, detail and polish on the first to get her ready for that.

I picked up the vinyl for a whopping $14. Lol. For that price I'll try it myself first. Never done it before so what the heck. Once I finish a thing or two I'll be wrapping the console.

We also got the rear end done being welded up last night as well as the hotchkis rear sway bar. Only took me 3-4 years to get that sway bar on the car, but hey its done.

Well she is back on the ground, and I finished making my console and got it installed. Quite happy with the results considering it's my first time wrapping anything with vinyl.

I put the obd2 under the wideband/cover. Made the cover easily removable to access the fuse box and ECM underneath. As well as the data logging cable for tuning purposes is inside that box as well.
