Well see Chris you did get a present from Santa this year.:D
Yeah, the only one lol. But hey, can’t be greedy. (I really actually hate getting gifts believe it or not, I’d much rather be giving them)

We each got two small homemade gifts from two of the kids and nothing from the third. Exploring the idea that adults don't get a present next year. Tough decision.

Yeah tough one.

I tell you I about jumped out of my chair and smacked my niece last weekend. Sunday we had our final Xmas event @ my father in laws. Disabled vet with cancer. Very limited income. He got all the kids presents, same number each, 3. She gets done opening them and shouts “that’s it?! This is all junk”! Her mom, my sister in law just sat there. My wife went off. She’s 8, she knows better than that or should. Heck, my kids are younger and when they got done, each said thank you and was excited without prompting. Pissed me off to no end

So what did you get?
Nice homemade thoughtful things. I'm happy with whatever they give me. Just to a point of how old do you give adult kids presents??
The one daughter who gave nothing for the third year in a row, not even a card, is the one we help support with her kids dirt bike racing. I know they wrap all their extra $$ into that sport but really.
She also didn't even call and wish me a Happy Birthday this year. I told Cheryl not to remind her and never heard from her....ho hum.
We will always do birthdays, but xmas presents are really for the kids....and understand the TRUE meaning of Christmas. JMO

This year I faced the same dilemma with my side of the family. I cut them all off. They never call, never text, never ask about my kids or us. Only time was during the ones wedding. So we decided why waste the time and money on people who don’t care? My advice is to do Christmas as always, but only with those who care and actually want to do it. As for how old to stop getting gifts, never. My wife is 32, her sister is 39, both still get gifts from their parents, usually just a card or something small. Remember, Christmas is about giving and being with people who youbhave relationships with. Or so my pastor told me

Or maybe in a couple weeks when I plop down $2K to rebuilt my grandson's motorcycle engine I say Merry Christmas- Happy Birthday..

We pretty much stopped when the kids hit 21. We have the meal that's about it. They understand what they still cost me just in medical. $598 a month more than 1/3 my pay. I think they appreciate it. This year it will go way down the Daughter gets married and the son hits 26. That will help us out a lot, just the wife then. I looked into Tricare here really would be a real PIA in this area with all her issues. Just found out in June a lot of her doctors will no longer take Blue Cross with the Pinical health network. This is going to really suck finding new docs for here especially the Medical Marijuana one.

Well when you hit military retirement at least for me with Tricare (free) we don't need a referral and go to whatever Dr we want. You being in a military area shouldn't have a problem finding a Dr who takes Tricare. For a family its a $3K out of pocket co-pay then its free.

Ray
How old are you ??
Did you ever deploy for 90 days or more to a combat zone??

She has a ton of pre existing conditions that kills us. A lot of doctors don't want to take her on. No crap she takes 20 pills a day and a fentenal patch which she is almost weened off of now. Have to say the medical pot works for some.

How many times! Yes I get almost a year off retirement age.
Great I did too. Start your paperwork about a year out so that its all done. For me doing so it was seamless, no problems.
Nice to when the military gets a raise we do too.

Tricare has no limits concerning pre-existing conditions.

Its 1 who accepts it here in the area and 2 having a doctors that will take her on. Been through that before and it is a serious PIA!
The mil retirement will be great have almost 5k in points and a E-7 rank. I should be fine when it comes in. 4 years to go.
