Stop in for a cup of coffee

As I read through your posts it brings up an argument or as I call it a misconception about our beloved Mopars. As I do not wrench for a living anymore, I have been working on cars since I was 15, so like 30 years. I restore my own stuff (mopars) and, wrench on other people's daily drivers on the side for parts money or whatever. I have also worked in a transmission shop for around 5 years. When you talk to brand x people they always seem to say "Chryslers are junk" "Dodge has tranny problems" etc etc etc. As i recall over the past probably around 15 years of wrenching on the side I think I have worked on 3 Mopar products. I also know that 5 years in the tranny shop we did 4 Mopar trannys. We did probably 4 700R4 trannys a week but Mopar has the bad rap. Never had understood this. I'm sure you see the same thing.
I agree. Ball joints are a perfect example. I dont think i have done a dozen in my 6 years here working at home. Fords and chevys? Dozens. Swapped one hemi, about 6 cobalt and cruze engibes and a couple 5.3’s. No ford engine swaps at all.
Tons of rear disc brake issues-all brands. Lots of gravel roads with calcium chloride dust control.

318 I have a 273 in my 66 Dart

I just came to read and find out that the 273 pistons are a bit of a challenge. Or has been. Maybe rather pricey, but I see Egge has them for both the 2 barrel and 4 barrel version. At least possible to get. I assume other parts are more similar to the 318 and easier to find.

Bill

Oh, well, I guess $449 a piston might not be considered an option even.

Maybe I understood that wrong, that it is per.set of 8 pistons and not per piston.

Scrolling through the cars, 30’s and up from what i have seen from a quick browse.

Refrigerator problems. Old Bosch side by side unit. Freezer cold, but fridge only cold near the top, bottom is noticably warmer. Gonna dig into it... @zkx14

Those are the peeps that don't know they used to cut the bell housing off, throw away the convertor, put a clutch on it and put torque flites behind nitro motors.

I just came back from doctor's office and I talked to some physical therapist guys and a specialist today.

They are saying surgery is a reality.

The main reasons a simple incident turned out so bad is 3. Reasons.

1. I was slightly twisting when it happened, so my back was not straight when the weight did the damage.

2. I was off balance by wearing really high heels, adding to my spine not being straight when I needed it to be to handle the load. I have been lectured about heels before but it is what it is. "Heels throw off good geometry because in a situation like what happened, the feet want to go apart but the knees want to naturally go towards each other and your weight is coming down on it all".

3. I have old hardware in my back from an old injury from when I was a teen.

So, now that the shock is wearing off, time to just do what needs to be done.

Wow...Well you should definitely do what's best for your long term health, since you are still so young. I'll pray that all goes well for you, Rani

Goes without saying, be smart Rainy. We know you will. Biggest threat in these scenarios is your own mind. Of course it is also your strongest ally. Your body will tell you what decision must be made.

Ouch be careful and here’s to a speedy recovery

Ouch! Best of luck Rainy. Do what you know is best.

When it comes to back injuries and surgery, get a second and third opinion before surgery. There are a lot of new techniques available and not all the medical professionals are up to speed on them. The new minimally invasive arthroscopic procedures today are truly amazing in results and recovery time.

My daughter started High School this year and tonight my wife took her and a bunch of her friends to their Homecoming football game. It’s a lot of fun watching her and her friends experiencing these things for the first time and having a great time doing it...while making memories that will last a lifetime.

It is a special time in their lives, and fondly reminds me of those long ago days in my life. :)

So the local news just reported about a high speed interstate chase near me. Said the suspect kept evading the spike strips so the officers contacted the manufacturer and had them remotely disable the vehicle, bringing it to a stop.

I did not know that was even possible?
