Stop in for a cup of coffee

That reminds me, i need to insulate/bury the pipe between house and holding tank.
Plumber fixed it,and i need to finish it up.
Plus fix a window frame, and reseal a hole where a chimney was removed.

Nightmare! I hate plumbing!
Your plumbers nightmare

Rain for the next 24 hours. Just started.
Glad i got everything moved yesterday. Got what i wanted moved into tarp shed, and a little room to spare. Can park my tractor in there when i dont need it. Next is shuffle things around in the storage building.forklift needs a new battery first. Should convert that thing to 12 volts.

I did, took it to a shop that pressed them off and on while I waited. OLd shop where the average age of the employees is 50. Lots of experience.
That's the way. When I called aroud a few years ago, and the one guy said sure, the way he said I figured he hadn't done one of these before. LOL.
The guy at East Coast machine knew exactly what to do. Cost $100 but was well worth it.

Paid to have one done. Next time i did it myself. Was winter so i threw axle in snowbank, and set bearing and ring on a trouble lamp bulb (incandescent)
1/2 hour or so i brought axle in and dropped bearing and ring onto axle. A couple thumps with a heavy wall pipe and bearing was seated.

This guy is an old Chevy guy, but anyone with a old classic needing something special done goes to him.
Told him we were on a tight schedule trying to do the last day finish up.
He had them back to me in an hour and a half for $72.
He's a friend of a friend. We've talked a few times at car shows.
Always nice to have those contacts.

My farm implement shops had a old fry pan filled with motor oil that they would use to heat the bearings up in. That worked great.

IIRC the 8 3/4 axles have a retaining ring that gets cold chiseled first - carefully!

The only thing left is a new starter. Buddy recommended a new 95 Dodge mini starter.
He put them on his 67 and 68 383 and got rid of the classic slow start BS.
I agree!!

I put one on my 66. It works great and spins that 273 over fast. I do mis the Wing ding ding ding noise though. So much for originality. LOL

Only way to go. Kind of surprised no one figured out how to kind of make one look like a OEM. The high tork Mopars are pretty good if you can find one.

I agree it sits down there and few will notice, but I don't care!!
