I never use impact, just dont trust myself. Seeing as the preload was gone before i touched it and this being the 3rd round i want to be close. Sneak up on it so to speak.
Will add, wasnt me the other 2 times.

Ya Joel has done so many. He tightens, feels it for play and drag and gives it another blip if needed. He's the go to guy when the other dealers can't get a noise out.

The rear end on my 2017 Ford is noisy as hell. Whines. Dealer "it's normal" while under warranty. It's not....

Here for example. It seems a sandy epoxy layer was added into the case first followed by a rubber RTV type layer to finish the encasement of the board. Not sure it was a good choice since silica based substrate acts as an insulator rather than dissapating heat effectively. The local temps around the board components must have gotten pretty high. No wonder it burned out.

Seems like they chose manufacturability ease over longevity. This approach makes manufacturing easy...but life span is sacrificed. They would have done better with a quality heat sink material to conduct the heat to the case. Instead, the RTV type material is encasing the upper part of the components like a silicone oven mitt and the layer under it can’t extract the heat well anyway.

Well, maybe they used sand in the RTV as a filler. Less RTV goes that way. If I am not mistaken special epoxy is made for that kind of things, that lead heat well from the components and to the outer shell / cooling fins.
But, who knows what they have used these days, and particular in aftermarked stuff.

Almost 11:00
Old guy should be stopping in anytime. Every tuesday he stops by,not sure why. Its on way to garbage dump but he says no, just popping in. But he kills an hour every time. If i know hes coming i would put off coffee until he shows up.

cant chase him out, although some days i dont stop.

View attachment 1715415472 I was fine with winter until about 10 years ago,our first cruise. I had no idea what i was missing. Then a few winters having to work outside finished it off.
winter whiner? You dam right, i earned the Privilege to complain. Couple rounds of frostbite here and there and i have had about enough.

When I say winter whiners, you have to take into consideration who I am and where I come from. Born and raised at 69 degrees north, long winters, learned to deal with it as a kid, played outside in the winter, dug snow caves as a boy, as a grown up started work helping my dad with snow removal when I was 16 years old. Then spent time in the military. I have over 50 nights in sleeping bag in tent wintertime with snow, one had to watch the kerosene oven in the tent all the time. After that worked on fishing boats outside in the winter. Sitting in snow welding, you name it. In addition I am part Lappish, so winter, snow and cold and being outside is in my genes. Heat on the other hand, that bothers me, then I am the whiner. Comfortable outdoor temp for me for doing manual continuous labor is 50 - 65 degrees. 80 degrees and I am passed out.
How many times do you think I have had a nail bite from my fingers freezing, I do not have figures for it, but it is more than a couple, far more. The thing is to dress right, and accept being in a winter country, and do things so you get as little trouble as possible. Then it is not a big issue at all. If it is still a big issue, you live in the wrong place. I lived with snow and winter until I passed 51 and my wife dragged me to this place. The place where Mexicans sit in their cars in 90 degrees with the windows open, and with a wool cap down over their ears and insulated winter jacket. Understand it I can not.

I'll take winter and snow any day before living in this fire pit not knowing if I will wake up tomorrow or if someone else will come and scoop up the ashes of me.

I am surprised the rear axle on my 04 Grand Marquis is totally unpainted, both the cover and the rest. As you say, it looks so much better painted. And it last longer in that nasty salt they use in that nasty winter :D

I’m back, bagged it wind picking up, and drifting in. They sent the wife home also.
