Wish someone with a full unmolested set of 727 and 904 linkage and bellcranks would measure and share the lengths. of the different bits.

This from the 1971 MTSC number2

What makes this unique is the slotted adjustable arm with the head mounted bellcrank

The different engine isn't usually the issue but almost everyone that changes intakes has this mis-adjustment issue. Replacing a stock AFB with a late model Edelbrock is usually ok but may require the Mopar adapter. (so it's not necessarily a carb issue but a intake thing)

The top link moves in a fairly straight line. I don't think the length effects the ratios as long as the top bellcrank starts in the correct spot.

Here's ome different throttle pressure levers (the ones on the transmission)
The shorter ones are for the 904 or visa versa.

Some of the linkage is the same for all the v-8s.
This is a 318/904 set being sold on e-bay that I put the part numbers onto for reference.

No idea where this photo came from. Think it was a vender display at carlilse or nats that was on the interweb

Noticed this difference

And I assume that would be for a 904. yes?
Yes it is. I grabbed that out of a wrecking yard. Car was sad. 2 BBL setup. Different then 4BBL. As far as I know, the main difference is where the "arm" is attached at the pivot, and how straight it is.....

So if you straighten this, like I did, it MIGHT make it to long. Throw off the geometry. Still unknown at this point.

If it is, I will measure un molested distance, and re drill hole to the correct position. I do not think it will be an issue tho...

really the point of my post about the oil viscosity was that the most important factor is temperature.
On a regular Chysler engine from the 60s, a 5W-20 at normal operating temps is going to be really thin.
It only makes sense to use a 5W-20 with normal bearing clearances if the engine is running really cold.

i ran 5-20 in my slant just to clean it out and when I told my buddy, he said "holly ****" and that was all he said. I now have 15-40. :D
